He wasn't too bad whilst at bordeaux and looked good when he first arrived. The attributes he did have which were his pace and willingness to get in behind defences were never properly used by pardew, who was more interested in seeing him man mark the likes of tony Hibbert out of games. Feel sorry for him in a way.

Nope. And I would never have imagined that he could make it as a central midfielder. Has been doing well apparently (according to some usually very pessemistic Bordeaux supporters I know)

Having watched him play regularly for a few years in a forward role, I'm happy to see that he seems to have found his feet as a midfielder, because I have to say in attack he was extremely underwhelming (rarely seemed to get into goal scoring positions or create much for anybody).

Watching the build up to the Nice game, all they're talking about is Ben Arfa, no mention of tracking back or inconsistency. They just want to see him do well.

There's no middle ground in France when it comes to raiting French footballers, they're either great (Henry, Zidane, Thuram..) or failures (Even players like Cabaye, Robert are seen to have underachieved for not signing for Real or Man Itd). Wouldn't be too worried by articles like this one. The French are world champions when it comes to writing off their own.

Good bit of business IMO . One of the reasons a lot of people in France don't rate him is because of that business with Lille, and the fact that he plays for Marseille. A lot of Marseille fans that I know are dissapointed to see him leave, as when he got a decent run in the team he scored a few goals and set up a load of chances.

Our best buy have to be Ben Tozer and Aaron Spear, apparently neither of them even liked playing football.
