I hate to agree with Hope, as hes usually a bell end lol, but I do agree with his points in his latest video, it wasnt the defeat that was the problem yesterday, it was the manner of it. Last seasons successes were built upon a foundation of togetherness and the sum of the parts being greater - this is beginning to look like it is not the same this season, and im not as of yet sure why. Bruno is not playing well, Pope devoid of all confidence. The fabled best defence in the league can't buy a clean sheet, and without Botman looks frail and sluggish at best. Trippier isn't attacking probably as a result of the Defence being weak and the midfield are not holding the ball, pressing well or creating anything. Its very worrying, and it is vital that they start to work harder for each other again, too many sloppy mistakes or half-arsed plays yesterday for this early in the game.

on the subject odf the dugouts, I was on the stadium tour on Thursday morning, and asked the builders what they were putting in, its basically some of the standard leather seats out the stadium like in the premium sections, with no heating haha! once he was on thje tempo definitely changed, didnt seem to have a lot of the ball but his positonal play seemed to open things up. Look forward to seeing him play more this season and get on the score sheet when it matters

I suppose you have to rate him on what he is their to do - did he defend well, he was 'okay' in that regard. Did he create anything? No imo. Did he score or attack well? Only 1 chance, and he fluffed it massively. He set a much higher bar in the first half of last year, and blamed being injured on his less good performances in the second half of last year. But against elite opposition tonight, he did not stand out, and when he had a chance he fluffed it.

Yeah I would agree, he's an excellent player I totally agree, and I love him to be honest, and I think theirs been moments since he came where he has been amazing, however - the form has dropped and its a continuation of the end of last season. You can 'christ' me all you like, but the facts are true.

in what way? i honestly think he's been prety poor for quite a while now. I know he was injured last season for the last third, but he isn't now, and wasnt in preseason, and he looks a shadow of his former self at present. That 'shot' was terrible, lacked compsure and finesse. Is he really world class? jury's still out for me.

You say that, and when Maxi was at his best and fit he was a joy to watch. But it lasted 4-6 weeks if you were lucky before he cba or got injured and was missing for months again. And he was also insanely frustrating, how many times did he try a trick or try and beat a man only to give the ball away, or not make the obvious pass? He’s a very gifted player, but he is flawed and that’s the reason he’s played for us for years and is now going to Saudi. Barnes is a upgrade, fitter, more reliable and will score a ton of goals and assist quite a lot, will you not cheer when he scores all the time?

Barnes 2.7 XA vs ASM 3.6 XA is not massive, but their xg is 2.1 to 7.8 - he creates slightly less but smashes in goals, he’s ultimately a better footballer ?

This sums it up for me. Sad to see Maxi go, but Barnes is a clear upgrade in end result, and I’d rather my team won than get to watch maxi’s tricks sadly.
