In McClaren’s squad we had Wijnaldum (£25m now playing for a top 6 side), Sissoko (£30m player now playing for a top 6 side), Townsend (£12m). We also had the likes of Janmaat who is a regular starter for a team higher in the league than us. Thauvin who is playing well for a team competing at the top of the French division. That’s 5 players who are already significantly better than their counterparts, quite significant when you consider that is half of the outfield team. It speaks volumes that the team that finished the game away at Man City, all 11 players were playing in the Championship last season. We have a Championship squad and on that basis we should be 20th, when in actual fact we are out of the relegation zone and with as much chance of anyone as staying up. You could also then look at comparing the utterly dire performances served up under McClaren, whereas we’ve been in pretty much all of the games we’ve played this season, bar a few. Of course Rafa has made a mistake along the way, it’d be impossible not to - but if we had anyone else in charge we’d already be planning for our season in the Championship. I’d imagine people will bemoan the lack of investment, which would ultimately be the cause of our relegation. Which miss from the games against Palace, Brighton, Swansea, Burnley etc. were the fault of Rafa? If we had a credible striker in, we’d easily have 5-8 more points and be comfortably safe - we’ve dominated games and had enough chances to win them two times over, it’s not Rafa’s fault he’s been left to mow a lawn with a pair of tweezers.

How many times have these been on TV? Seems like they’ve barely been on in comparison to us last season. I know Sky want to feature the promotion battle, but even their games against Wolves, Fulham, Bristol City etc. haven’t been televised. Deulofeu is in a perfectly natural position to follow the ball when he gets fouled. He feels the contact and makes a meal of it, yes but you have to do that if you want a penalty He’s not in a natural position when he’s already throwing himself in the air. If he ‘makes a meal of it’ as you say yourself then he’s not been fouled sufficiently to bring him down and it’s a dive - no? Otherwise he wouldn’t have to make a meal of it and would have no option but to go down.

You said it yourself, a ‘slight touch’, not a chance in hell does that slight touch (that Deloufeu initiated) is enough for him to put both of his legs together and dive in the air - he could easily have carried on running with nee bother there.

It’s infuriating how we have fallen into a world where contact = penalty, because we are seeing more and more where players who win the penalty are the ones who have initiated the contact, rather than the other way round. Deloufeu hits his leg into Courtois and then arches his back and flies to the floor. Yesterday, Kane kicked his foot into Karius’ shoulder as he was already diving to the floor. Vardy is awful for it too. It’s cheating, it should be stopped and these players should all be banned. You should only be getting a penalty if the contact is initiated by the opponent and is sufficient to make you lose your feet. Fuck off with saying ‘he’s running so fast the slightest touch would knock him off balance’, pitiful excuse and there is no way that the contct today or yesterday was enough to send anyone flying off their feet.
