This is another issue over the season. Players are being flogged to death to cover the gaps throughout the squad due to injuries and lack of rotation.

Quite unimpressed by our recruitment team on their decision to not pursue a striker (even a loan option) over both windows. Relying on Isak and Wilson to be fit for significant periods over a full season seemed fanciful, at best. A sale to the Saudi league in the summer would be a great option for all parties.

Made such a huge difference to the team today. A great outlet on the wing and very sharp taking the ball away from defenders in tight situations. We’re much better in successfully soaking up pressure when he’s there.

I recognise your points, but if Joelinton’s injury does turn out to be season-ending, we have no choice but to enter the market. Think we’ll really struggle to the end of the season with such scarce options in midfield. I’ll push back a bit on the overall view of investment, again can’t we find players from more undervalued leagues / continents like Brighton? We don’t have to shatter our transfer record or anything.

Will wait to see what the end of the transfer window brings, but so far this window, I’m disappointed in our recruitment team. We’ve been engulfed in an injury crisis for months, surely deals should have been in an advanced stage. We’ve had quite a long lead-in time in identifying what the team needs. I’m also frustrated at how we don’t seem to be shopping in markets where we could get better-value, if finances are this stretched. Brighton signing Barco for £8m springs to mind. Do our scouts even do anything?

I’m not as certain. If we have a nightmare run of three more losses in the upcoming games against Luton, Forest and Bournemouth, it will become quite desperate.

There will certainly be a correlation between exhaustion and the last-minute goals we’ve conceded this season. Particularly those where it stems from player errors. I wouldn’t use as strong language as you have on it, but equally don’t think Howe has found the right balance of using the diminished bench, youngsters etc. There’s been players in games who have barely been able to walk around the pitch at times.

Lose against Villa and fail to beat Luton, it will get an bit uncomfortable for him.

Recruitment team need to step up this window and provide the players this team needs. It can’t be Phillips or nothing, surely there’s players available on loan with buy options across Europe? Even with financial restrictions, there needs to be activity.

He has to find a system that can manage that space between the defense and midfield better. It’s so easy to bypass our midfield into that little pocket. This was an issue before the injuries and fatigue as well. He needs to find the answers to this tactical issue.

We seemingly never score last minute goals, we just concede them. We are absolutely cursed.
