As much as I don't want Pope to be our starting GK, he's a 20 year old that has only had experience in Ligue 2. Premier League football is an enormous step-up.

Lot of money for (presumably) a second-choice keeper. I don't think as a club we can continue with Pope as a #1 again for the coming season.

This sounds harsh, but I think we need to look for steelier characters in our recruitment as well. Elanga should have been much better than he was / is, but I don't know if the lad can mentally cope playing for Newcastle. It was painful watching him in home matches last season, the complete lack of confidence and drive to be involved.

Selling Hall would be a nightmare scenario. I feel like there's so much work to do on the squad already, never mind losing one of our most talented players. Circa £50m would be an absolutely awful deal as well, would have to be closer to £70m at a minimum.

I think Gordon will be excellent under Flick, not too sure how it’ll go for him when Flick inevitably leaves however.

Gordon deal getting done this quick suggests him and Hopkinson have a good line of contact to PIF to get things finalised.

I can see us hawking Tino around a bit this summer. He’s got 2 years left and doubt he’s going to extend.
