  1. Deliberate ploy to make him feel wanted / loved ?
  2. And this against a team that they sneared at as one of our opponents when we went down... Beautiful!!!!
  3. Not licking a£se here but the flag displays and the efforts of those involved go a long , long way in amalgamating the fans now . Way and above the call if duty . Huge credit to you all .
  4. The celebrations are a lot to do with the spirit , soul and pride returning to this club thanks to the amazing work of one man and the passion for the shirt shown by the players . Before Rafa we were soulless .
  5. Considering yourself as " classier " is a subjective argument but they must live in a bubble to believe they can project themselves as "classy" . Fans who defecate on their stadium seats , revere criminals who have " worn the shirt " , and have to be persuaded to turn up on match days in anything like decent numbers by the lure of free tickets ? And believe me , the general standard of home support at the Stadium if Light does not project a " classy " image .
  6. Very impressive today , great awareness and decision making , and has already been said , looks taylor made for Rafa's system .
  7. Mark of a good keeper that he made an error of judgement but didn't let it affect the rest of his game. Looks like a cracking find by Rafa
  8. We should hold onto Lacelles no matter what's offered for him . His importance goes beyond his playing abilities . What he brings to the team is pretty much irreplaceable . I can't remember the last time we had a captain even close the presence he has , and I can go back to the days of Moncur , Anderson etc. It would be a disaster to face the new season being once again leaderless on the pitch , we've had plenty of that in recent times . With Lacelles and the new keeper we have the organisation of our rearguard sorted .
  9. Their problem is even worse than having nowt.... They've got a good few liabilities on their books
  10. It's just a defense mechanism man, a Just In Case They're bad, but not bottom of the table going in to League One bad. They should have been mid table without much fuss, instead we've been entertained with a cataclysmic free-fall which the entire footballing country is creasing at. But, we know too well their ability to fluke their way out of trouble and half expect them to do so, even with 3 games to go and 8pts behind i'd still think they've got a chance, and they would do as this is a false position and on balance they are expected to have a good run at some point. Time is running out though, just fuck off and be done with it. You see, I don't think it's a false position at all. They're striker has about 8 career goals. They have Lee Cattermole in midfield 37 year old John O'shea and Marc "no one wants me" Wilson in defence. I don't see what talent they have that makes this a false position at all. Hoy the three disastrous keepers they have into the equation and that's Division 1 standard right there
  11. At this point in the season , although everybody is entitled to an opinion , we shouldn't really be bitching about the shortcomings of certain players . Yes , earlier in the campaign most of us were feeling the frustration of the monumental struggle Rafa had to mould these players together , with all their shortcomings and limitations . But he has them bonded together , giving their all to try to deliver his vision of how he wants this club to develop .
  12. "It's good, but it's not right" I wonder on what criteria Sunderland could be validly considered a better city to live in than Newcastle? Distance the beach/sea? That’s all I can come up with. Plenty of marras to keep you company if your life falls apart & you end up in the gutter ?
  13. The 6 in a row really is just clutching at crumbs of comfort for them now and shouldn't even register as an irritant with us anymore . Their current situation is teetering on catastrophic .
  14. The pent up emotions that will explode on the day when /if we ever draw them in the cup 5, 6 or however many years down the line .
  15. Maybe he's starting to trust the team more . Offensively we're limited and things can easily break down , but he's probably more relaxed that his defence is more equipped to cope now . He has them drilled but with the addition of the new keeper and return of Dummet perhaps he feels we can play with a tad more freedom . He did comment about our 2nd goal against Southampton , in that it pleased him because it showed how players were learning and making the right decisions .
  16. Spot on with this like.... and the bleakness that shrouds the place weighs heavily on it's inhabitants
  17. Swap ‘working class’ for 4th world troglodytes (Ooh, get me and my middle class England speak) and I reckon your bellend would remain unstung in that particular wasps’ nest, Legionnaire Tried similar kind of tag to describe them in the past and was set upon big style by the bad ass hipsters on here . Guess I'm a bad fit on "their" board .
  18. Can't see where I claimed that our fanbase is totally devoid of any working class members , nor that I decried any classes . I am probably as "working class" as you could possibly get . I merely attempted to point out that there is absolutely no inspiration for their working class fans to trudge along to watch such abysmal performances in such a run down , soulless area at which their stadium is situated . My observations were made from actually experiencing the situation . Obviously others have experienced the same and obviously I'm wrong . So sorry to have created so much vitriol .
  19. I've been to their place 3 or 4 times over the course of 2 seasons when they were in the Prem. as a work thing . It is so obvious that the fanbase there is of a much more basic , working class background than ours , the difference is so palpable in and around the two stadiums . Even taking the fact that I'm on enemy territory at their place into consideration , it just has the feel of a cold , deprived wasteland . I can't blame their fans for deserting in vast numbers to be honest .
  20. We can't really gloat though can we , they've made it absolutely clear that this league is not of their standard ... pub league n all that
  21. They're gonna be mightily lucky to escape this one . Their team is a shambles and they haven't got their traditional one lifesaver in the.side like Bent or Pickford . One old guy on the radio had compiled a list of the 3 worst keepers ever to play for them . The first 3 on that list were the current 3 . Toss in playing their home games at that ghost town of theirs and they've not got a lot going for them .
  22. They have a massive problem in that they have 3 keepers to choose from and they're all gash , spread panic throughout the team and the manager keeps rotating them . Being dropped every few games does nowt for their confidence and so the pressure cranks up each time it's their turn to "shine" / *u*k up
  23. How satisfying is it to know that we benefited from someone who was caught out trying to cheat . Must be a first for us. And what a great goal it was.
