If the player was clever he'd have turned up with a plaster on his finger citing Marcelino, and he'd have easily had another 4 months off work until the next transfer window.
  2. This big club business has got some of you rattled like the crossbar after an Obefemi Martins shot.

I'm with Sunderland on this one, like. Any player that thinks they can just not turn up for work and collect their wages needs to be shown the door. Hopefully more clubs follow through on this to set the trend, otherwise it gives more reason for players to take the piss when things don't go their way.
  4. You've been asking this for a decade man. When I decided to pick and support the worst team I saw I did it under the assumption it'd get better. That explains the Bills, how did you end up supporting Newcastle?
  5. I was reading this article about Sir John Hall the other day, written in 1996 (22 years ago) about the plans Sir John had and his Newcastle Sporting Club empire - https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/black-and-white-visionary-1313572.html the utter contrast in scope and ambition (even if misplaced) between our last Chairman and current is insane. Ashley is looking to buy shops and fill them with cheap tat Sir John Hall was buying and creating sports teams. I mean in hindsight it was shocking what he did to Durham Wasps and the Whitley Warriors in attempt to form Newcastle Cobras, but Newcastle Eagles have went on to become the most successful basketball team in the BBL. Newcastle Falcons have a good fanbase despite their up and down nature, and at one time had one of the most recognisable player in Rugby playing for them.

I don't have to Still amazed by how tiny those turnstyles were They're insane, you don't stop and think about it until you see other stadiums. You can guarantee whoever tried to pick it off was just a good samaritan rather than a staff member. I know we all laughed at the mackems going in and helping to replace their pink seats, but ffs at least they showed a little initiative to try and clean the place up and get the fans to do it.

That sticker at the bottom of the inner crest has been there for at least 7 years. AT LEAST. I'm surprised Puma hasn't started to embroider it into the badge on the shirt.
  9. Those fucking sales tags man. Can't even be bothered to 'up market' the sickly neon green shite they plaster everything with at sd.
  10. Its taken you 11 years to work it out? Yes, I'm a twat. I'd say 6 or 7 tops - that's still too many though. His utter disdain for the fans as always been clear however, which should have been a huge red flag to begin with.

Man, without knowing where this was from if someone was to ask me which decade this photo was taken I'd guess the 90s or something. Our poor stadium. The match day experience and corporate facilities are utter pants compared to other clubs in England. Staff aren't very friendly. The place is uninviting. There's no real sense of the club's history to view around the stadium or concourse. Yet, if you want to see concrete walls, and betting posts everywhere, SJP is your place. The best place I've ever experienced a game day was at Citi Life stadium to see the Mets play. I'm not even a huge baseball fan, it was just a cheap day out while we were on holiday. However, the experience was amazing from the moment you arrived. Person who checked your tickets are super nice and engaged, made it feel like it was a big deal we had come from England to see the Mets. Imagine arriving at SJP for the first time, you're going to be over the moon, and then like you're shuffled through like cattle into this horrible dingy looking shit hole that is cramped and nobody has time for you. Then when you got into the stadium it was METS everywhere. Huge posters and displays detailing their history and star players over the years and their current stars. Instantly you're embraced with the colours and branding of the team, it was amazing. I'm not saying we should be going the whole American fanfare bullshit here, but the contrast has always stuck with me.
  12. I'm going to come clean here, in the early days I used to think all this anti-Ashley stuff was shite. I was wrong. His only interests are himself and those who have made him money, which might be fair enough in other walks of life, yet doesn't really fit when owning and running a football club. I hope the protests continue and I'm ashamed I ever remotely defended this shite Jabba the Hutt cosplaying wombat.
  13. Man, I didn't realise so many people didn't rate Matt Ritchie. I like him, he not be world class, but he's what we need. Has a bit of quality, tries hard, seems to give a shit, and I've seen bollock players around him for not helping him press.

When the fixtures came out I prepared myself for a shit start, but its still a shit feeling to see it happening. You still think you'll grab a draw here or there maybe, but nope.

Yup. Don't even work for the club directly.

Eddie used to be a groundsman, and then head groundsman. He's been at Newcastle and Darslay Park for at least 20 years.
  17. Crazy what people are calling their kids these days.

They're really not going to blitz the league, are they. And to think I said they'd win it in my £1 acca with City, Leeds & MK Dons. FFS.

Eddie Rutherford is the Stadium Manager, you'll have seen hanging about in the tunnel during matches. You can't miss his face.
  20. ... do I ask to see this picture or not... so curious... EDIT: So I googled Bobby Madley and er... Google finished the rest with 'dog video'. I'm not sure I need to know more.

I liked the Black and White seats in the East Stand back in the day, I won't lie. Not sure about the entire stadium like.
  22. Great work by all involved, keep it up Is BigChrisHolt from this forum? I feel like he used to play in the Red v Blue games. As for the training ground, they've been expecting (staff were told) improvements since 2014. The barn with the indoor football pitch has been planned to be demolished and replaced for years now, with a two floor sports science department with an indoor pitch, observation deck on the second floor with a purpose built gym and the likes.

Sunderland did it for years and it worked out well for them.

Love how we've sold people and replaced them with loan signings.
