Alexander Isak: has a chance to play against Everton (Howe)
David Edgar replied to Disco's topic in Football
For all the shit I've been giving Wilson recently for looking a bit off the boil, I'm wondering if Isak starting behind Wilson is gonna be the best option. Wilson did a lot of good stuff yesterday and Isak's mobility made up for Wilson being a little limited there. Isak could also work playing from LW. Move Joelinton into LCM and Longstaff into DCM. -
What's Ciaran Clark up to? No disrespect to him. Just mad that we had Schar on the bench...

Kieran Trippier: has a chance to play against Everton (Howe)
David Edgar replied to Yorkie's topic in Football
This is why I think Howe needs to consider adding more threat to the left side. Leeds and now Fulham have done a solid job defensively, being able to focus more on our right. We could do with adding some balance across the pitch to give opponents more to think about. -

Liverpool feel overrated based on their past. Their midfield is a shambles and VVD is past it and also crocked for a while. -
Aye, unless he breaks the dickhead rule, he seems obvious. Would be stunning having him on the left and Bruno on the right of a midfield 2.
-
Hang on, have seen the penalty foul again and it just isn't... BDR just stands on Tripper then dives to the floor.

Allan Saint-Maximin (now playing for Fenerbahce, on loan from Al-Ahli)
David Edgar replied to Disco's topic in Football
He was pictured feeling his left calf at half time and looking a bit sheepish. -
Yeah, I've gone too far saying he won't be around. Would probably still be here in the squad for all the reasons people have said. Dunno if he is remotely close in ability to Butt at Manchester United though. JOS is perhaps a better example, but I almost feel like it is easier to hide a poorer footballer at the back. Longstaff has a harder task to stick about, basically.
-
Yeah, this is definitely the case. He's not a favoured player, so gets harsher treatment. The inverse happens for the favourites.

Wouldn't mind our usual formation but with Isak in for Bruno and Longstaff at DM. -
Probably a bit more confident, maybe a bit to do with Fulham not pressing as well as other teams (like Leeds did). You can't fault his effort and he is fantastic off the ball. But I'd be amazed if he is still about if we become a top 4 staple. Unless there is major, sustained improvement.

I think Isak coming in can counter the loss of Bruno. But would love a couple of signings to improve the midfield.

Eddie Howe - Nominated for Manager of the Season

Nope, well aware I dare be critical. Think people need to either accept it quietly or try to discuss my points. Cos it is boring when a handful of you go, "oh DE is so negative. Just think happy thoughts. How dare you question Eddie..." Last post on this. Cos we'll just get loads more rubbish posts like the one above. Sigh. -

I bet if you go through all my posts in the last few months (actually all my posts full stop) there is more positive than negative. But a few of you have become very blinkered Think if I have an opinion, I'll post it. And if someone just gets on the name calling without a proper reply to my points, I'll call them out for adding nothing. -
He's slow and ponderous. Wouldn't work in our system. Botman and Schar had an easy time with him.

Don't see what the big deal is with being critical? You lot treat it like a sin You can be delighted with how things are going, belive Howe is the best manager we've had (maybe, ever) and still think that we have some improvements to make. -

You know managers don't tell the whole truth in interviews, right? Howe is a PR king. I'd be amazed if he left today thinking, "yeah that was great" and not, "hmm, a few games now we've looked a little blunt..." -
Eddie Howe - Nominated for Manager of the Season

I'd bet money Howe isn't happy with most of the game. I think we've gotta look at how we can do better against teams at home. Little bit flat with the ball. And could do with maybe getting Isak and ASM involved ealier. Teams seem to have a handle on our right side. And our attacking play is very asymmetrical. Perhaps it is time to look at Isak or ASM from the wide left position so that opponents can't focus solely on our right? -

What do you mean? We looked sluggish for a lot of the game and hadn't scored in ages before Isak arrived. No?
