Howe has to take responsibility for chucking some vital points down the pan, though. If he was listening to that knacker Jones then more fool him (and the fact Jones was kept on at the request of the new management team - I won’t say owners, because we know who they are, and they aren’t involved day-to-day - is another one of those worrying aspects of putting PR people in management roles). Dubravka, Fernandez, Lewis etc aren’t great footballers - but at least they’re mediocre ones. Darlow, Clark, Ritchie etc are utter shite (though in Ritchie’s case, this is age not ability). The ‘three games’ patter doesn’t excuse dogshit selections. Considering how super duper prepared I constantly hear he is, it’s even more troubling that he made the selections he did. It’s not quite red flag stuff, but it is probably a yellow one. I don’t think we’re down yet, there’s plenty of time to put a run together and get out of it. But it’s getting tougher by the week.

Got to get to NY with double figures on the board to stand a chance. 36 will be enough this season. Lose to Burnley at the weekend and I think we’re done, mind.

You’d think that they’d be aware that Saudi Arabia was one of the allies AGAINST ISIS. Jesus, there’s a million things that could be used, and that’s the one they pick?

Difficult to criticise a manager this early, though the selections are baffling. Krafth is possibly the worst defender I’ve seen get regular game time in a B&W strip since the early ‘90s. Still baffled by how a month-long ‘process’ and multiple interviews ends with a bloke being appointed who could’ve been appointed yonks ago. Personally, Howe leaves me non-plussed. But he’s a thousand times better than Bruce.

The only way Willock becomes useful again is if there’s a lockdown. Lad clearly drops his arse in front of a crowd. Classic ‘must be great on the training ground’ type. Offers absolutely nothing, Arsenal pulled Bruce’s pants down. Does make you wonder what would have happened if Shola played in the time of COVID. Probably would have broke Dixie Dean’s record.

Ashley wasn't smart enough to realise that chucking a few grand at a charity would get NUFC social media singing his praises. Well, more likely didn't give a shite. Staveley seems worrying comfortable in the company of some truly evil people; people far worse than Dickensian shithouse Ashley.

Probably because like fellow Tory Jacob Rees-Mogg, he sees food banks as wonderful symbols of charity rather than as damning indictments of Tory Britain

I was at Everton away about 20 years ago and the same thing happened with Gascoigne. Applauded when warming up, massive throaty cheer as he came on a sub for Everton with him clapping the away end - then a massive, throaty 'BOOOOOOOOOOO!' with his first touch. :)

Other half worked in the Diamond behind the bar when she was at uni. I can confirm the above re Shearer.

The flagrant nature of what they’re doing is almost of eye-opening as the stupidity of the other 13 clubs falling into line behind them. Haven’t they worked out this potentially makes them less appealing to future buyers?

As awful as the KSA govt is, I think our Mackem friend would do well to actually pick up a history book. If my memory serves me, the Kingdom of Hejaz, along with the Arab tribes of the Arabian peninsula fought with the British in the Great War. I understand they even made a little-known film - ‘Lawrence of Arabia’ - about said theatre of war. So they’d be within their rights to wear a poppy …

The NUST is, and always was, a complete and utter waste of time. Usual bunch of egotists end up at the top - in this instance, Tory Boy Alex and his posh pals. Remember when TF was about more than football? That changed when he took over. I can remember the Phoenix Taxi shite appearing in the rag, with MM having to give excuses for accepting advertising in a fanzine. So posh boy basically bought himself an existing soap box, and now he’s done it again with the NUST. The entitlement of inherited position. Also proves that MM’s politics were always bluster and bullshit. As stated upthread, him and Wraith are both two cheeks of the same Tory arse. ‘The Pledge’ was just embarrassing. And another way to try and buy his way into having his opinions heard - opinions which are no more valid than anyone else’s (we’re talking about football supporting here - I literally cannot think of anything less onanistic than people viewing everything through the prism of their importance in a fan base. The kind of thing a 12-year-old member of a boyband fan club probably has, but we’re talking grown adults here). ‘We’ll give it to foodbanks if we can’t buy 1%’. Nice one Alex - though you might want to have a good owld think about the circumstances and the people who created those foodbanks in the first place. Hint: you vote for them. It’s all best ignored. They’ll all worm their way in, because Staveley is a PR person not a business administrator. She’ll see the Twitter followers and hear their bullshit, making sure that it passes from one ear to the other without registering. She’ll know that the people who get involved have enormous regard for their self-importance. Give them the ego-boost, and they’ll tell their followers that the club board’s ablutions don’t stink.
