At his best I’d agree with that. Doesn’t have a single weakness and played at a time when it’s harder to be a centre back. I don’t think any of the other contenders played in a team that pressed and played as high as VVD. A very high risk, high reward style of play. If your central backs aren’t up to scratch in terms of pace, concentration and positioning you won’t be winning the champions league, or consistently racking up the points tally Liverpool did. Best centre back I’ve seen.

I wouldn’t want Eddie to leave unless we had someone we could be fully confident is an upgrade. for me I’d go after Gasperini or Spaletti. Mighty be unattainable, but if we can’t get another manager of that calibre then there’s no point, imo. Still fully behind Eddie though and I don’t think we should even think F getting rid until the end and f the season.

Completely agree. It’s why I hate the “women shouldn’t talk about football” argument. I know there are some terrible female pundits out there, but I’d argue stuntpegg can analyse football better than the majority of ex male pro’s.
