For the purposes of the argument that we need to sell our best player to a domestic rival right now, we're not remotely in a PSR jam.
-
We're not in a PSR jam, and we don't need to sell Isak to a direct rival this summer in order to get out of it.
-
Not really. The point I'm getting at is that there are examples of clubs doing it and no examples I can think of where it's benefitted the selling club.
-
All the more reason to call his bluff on choosing between letting him run down his contract until he's 28 nearly 29 to go to Liverpool, or go abroad next year.
-
Very debatable that doing that was best for the selling club. It says it all that the one of the most well known other examples of a club doing it at all is us.
-
Can you cite any example of a club with title winning aspirations selling their best player to a direct rival and it being best for the selling club? I can't think of a single example.
-
It's specifically because it's a Premier League club. I'd be the same if it was Man City, Chelsea, Arsenal etc. See my other post, it would absolutely be a shocking indictment yes. We're doing what small weak clubs do and telling everyone we can be pushed around, will put things in place to be pushed around, and that this is how you can treat us. The likes of Spurs, Man United, Man City and Liverpool themselves wouldn't dream of allowing this to happen where they sell their best player to a domestic rival. Our mentality as supporters needs to change like.

Our ability to sign players probably makes it moot anyway, but even if we strengthen our squad we still weaken the club. Every player and agent will know that players can kick up a fuss and we'll fold. Every club will know they can unsettle our players and we'll fold. Everyone will know that we're so weak that not only will we sell you one of our best players, not only will we do it AFTER you've signed our #1 replacement for that player, but we'll scurry around trying to make the deal work for you when we desperately need that time and resource to sign other players. I can't describe it any other way than this - at the moment we're Reek from Game of Thrones. Come on in Liverpool! Take what we have, take what we want, and have us still be your slave. Someone else said it the other day -Want to be a big club? Act like one.

Any scenario in which we're selling Isak to Liverpool is a catastrophic situation like, sorry. I cannot stand this mentality that if we get Sesko and Wissa we've somehow succeeded or saved face. It's a shocking indictment on the club and PiF for me.
-
A bid like that being reported as rejected/insufficient seems really off tbh. It's the sort of small thing that's negotiated, so it does seem like it's a bit of a hail Mary from Leipzig to get other clubs involved.
-
Sesko's not committed and he's not even signed yet.
-
Just read the undecided part of the tweet. Aye, I don't want him tbh, absolutely cba with this at all.
-
Don't mind sell ons but buy backs definitely shouldn't be allowed like.

I don't even care Leibzig, you're stabbing scar tissue

Been obvious for ages like, those reports last night were the anomalies
