  1. I have to say I don't think it's all that important that the styles of Emery and Howe are totally different. The philosophy at the moment is clearly 'stay in the PL' and the style of play is probably, or at least should be, secondary to things like win %, success in the PL, getting the best out of poor players, etc etc. If we were a comfortably mid-table team it would be more important and I'd expect someone like Fonseca to have been more in the running.
  2. According to Caulkin he's doing the contract negotiations.
  3. I don't think you can possibly blame a manager in his position having reservations about coming into this situation like.
  4. Have to say I think Howe would take us down like and that's not really a criticism of him, I just think the type of players we have and the quality of the other teams in the league means that there's no obviously rubbish teams aside from us and Norwich.
  5. Top managers like Xavi... Literally the first time I've seen Xavi or Low mentioned by anyone.
  6. If you can't handle me at my Brighton, you don't deserve me at my Newcastle
  7. Balague is an absolute gobshite, mind. I always forget that. How many times has he been on SSN saying something will happen and it doesn't.
  8. Yeah I can't imagine Balague putting that out unless he's been told, in which case leaking the story like that yesterday was daft.
  9. The only time tapping up was ever a thing was Chelsea with Ashley Cole wasn't it? It felt like a huge thing at the time until you found it happens all the time.
  10. Hopefully there were football people involved and not just lucking out on the right choice. Every time I see Martinez mentioned I grimace
  11. Fernandes doesn't seem as prominent as I've seen him before, but admittedly that wasn't loads and yeah looking at his goals and assists I'm probably wrong on that one. Sancho just isn't really playing, the front 3 he's in now is nothing like the one he thrived in at Dortmund and doesn't seem set up to work in the same way. Seems a bit weird when they apparently chased him for 3 years
  12. Stop talking about one of the world's biggest clubs in the other games thread everyone, this Man United fan who regularly posts on our Newcastle forum thinks that it's them that should be irrelevant to us.
  13. You're the one on the irrelevant Newcastle forum pal

Had a quick look and a fair few as usual don't rate him. The moment this falls through and he'll be one of the top managers out there
  15. Yeah it's Ronaldo but saying that's that and him being in the team is only a positive thing and doesn't have any downsides elsewhere - like not being able to press from the front, fewer goals from other players, Fernandes's reduced influence, Greenwood not playing in the middle, Sancho not getting a look in - seems a bit simplistic when those things are a reality and he's having to bail them out against teams they should be thrashing. He's just obviously far, far too good to not start, but a better team would be using him less and reaping all the rewards imo
  16. I think the whole "and people say he's a problem for this Man United team!?!" is a bit simplistic like, you could easily argue that his insane goal contribution and him bailing them out is just papering over the problem and that good teams will continue to beat them. The longer they delude themselves and OGS stays there the better.
  17. Crazy how much he's papering over the cracks.

I mean you're all doing the equivalent of checking your ex's tragic Instagram posts about you while you're being noshed off by Margot Robbie like.
  19. No I just mean about players and football general, not just transfer rumours.
  20. I like Tifo and watch it a lot, but a lot of the time it's more like they're talking about Football Manager than real life.
  21. Don't think anyone hates Howe except that weird lad that used to post on here. It's just that Bournemouth were always defensively dodgy and maybe wouldn't be the best fit for the players Newcastle have, when the manager really need to hit the ground running. Add to that that Emery is the alternative and is a proven higher calibre of manager at this point, so it's understandable that he's preferred. Not taking anything away from what Howe did at Bournemouth or his ability as a coach, especially on the attacking side of things.
