Similar performance to Thiaw: played well, massive clanger.
  2. Kid Icarus

    Malick Thiaw

That was Bramble-esque like. Not as calamitous, but similar in that he played well but dropped two catastrophic clangers.
  3. All 3 Liverpool pundits are saying it was fine margins and we could have easily gone 2 or 3 up and would have deserved to - in a match we haven't won in 32 years. Just in case some outside perspective makes a difference.
  4. Well that's it though isn't it? If you judge performance almost entirely on the result then you miss the detail. Our setup was spot on, 2 individual mistakes killed us and the last one makes the result look nothing like the match we watched. Absolutely no chance were we better in the 1-1 under Pardew, no chance whatsoever unless you're a fan of the team we're playing missing countless chances, us scoring our only chance, and defending for the rest of the match.
  5. PSG was only on Wednesday. We play a hybrid 343 often
  6. Or just that it's extremely difficult in both our club's positions. I rate Emery, that's the thing, I just find it baffling that there are people who rate Emery but not Howe.
  7. Totally irrelevant to the point I'm making tbf, the point is that things do change, and people are incredibly fickle when they do.
  8. Some very obvious 'mask slip' stuff going on with agendas in here imo. Absolutely none of tonight is on Howe like. The setup was working and individual errors killed us in a match we never win. Subs? Maybe, but then they came on and we were worse.
  9. Fair enough, but I don't agree. Obv the first 4-3 is the 30 year ago match I mean. Personally thought tonight was a very good setup that was ruined by individual errors, mainly from Thiaw. 'Game state' and all that after that.
  10. It's a valid comparison regardless I think. We struggled in our first CL season too.
  11. Give over? Name a better one. We're shit at Anfield. The set up was right and we had a good amount of chances. Individual mistakes killed us.
  12. I'll take that assessment from anyone that thinks he is all day. Said it before and I'll keep saying it, this time last year Villa were in a worse position than us in the CL season, and all the people on here who think the sun shines out his arse would have been Emery Out and been banging on about Eddie Howe.
  13. Which ones out of curiosity? Even the 2-2 in 02/03 we weren't very good.
  14. I think my point still stands like, which says it all about us at Anfield over the years. They don't really have to do much, it just somehow always happens for them.
  15. I mean you did in my book like, but it's fine, agree to disagree.
  16. Sums us up at Liverpool over the years tbh. Probably the best overall Newcastle performance at Anfield in 30 years...3 individual clangers, 4-1 loss. Not a fixture that you take any analysis from that makes any sense.
  17. Not in terms of it always being broadly applicable to everyone and overriding their own contradicting experiences, I wouldn't think.
  18. We've been worse since our subs so not sure that was the solution like.
  19. Not sure we were at that point personally
  20. Happiness has got nothing to do with it. If you went into this expecting something I dunno what to say.
