I think it is just the context of their recent dropping of points and what happened last year. Two draws away to Liverpool and West Ham; spanked by Man City. Not in it here last season; a defeat which cost them much more than yesterday will cost us. Intimating away atmosphere against an in-form (rightly) third placed team, and they turned-up and played very well. Fair play to them and let’s see how it goes next year.

Stats don’t make it look like a bad game for us. We were beaten by the better side, overall this season, but made a decent fist of it. Let’s chase these down next season.

Ah well, guess we won’t have to worry so much about Madrid coming knocking this summer. As phenomenal as he has been, is there a game against the very top teams where he has dominated/played a blinder?

Pope will be here at least another couple of seasons. There are 4-5 upgrades, if they can be found, and probably some age-related replacements before we look at ‘keepers.

Well wish I hadn’t read through some of the post-match rantings. It was always going to be the toughest match remaining and doesn’t really make any difference that we lost (particularly thanks to West Ham!). Think we also might struggle against Brighton (based on reverse fixture). It was a great game and wonderful advert for the Premier League. Let’s crack on—another 7-9 points for us to cap a fabulous season.
