Zadok Yohanna: Newcastle make €24m bid to AIK (Expressen)

*Not when you’re signing a young player for the future. Might be a Kuol, Harrison, Minteh who actually plays for us! -

But often hard to tell the difference. -

Sing Yohanna, sing Yohanna, sing Yohanna to the king of kids. 🤷♂️(Biblical!) -
Love a bit of ‘Foxy’… (except the Fulham-supporting bit, too soon!)

🎵 Anthony, Gordon! Running down the wing, Gordon! Hear the Geordies sing, Gordon! Now we’re supporting Real Madrid 🎵 Not really. Gan canny young Ant. Thanks for destroying Arsenal.

Thanks @Magpie great fun. Congratulations @Froggy 👏

Really? Absurd underperformance? I understand and share your disappointment but a bit of perspective is needed. Our average position in the PL (30 seasons) is 11th. We finished 12th. Lots of context to that, which we're all well aware of.

Welcome back, my man! We've missed you.
-
To be fair SAFC are nailing the whole peaks and troughs thing! They have come a long way in ten years, but still third best NE team on average.
-
Yes, must be terrifying seeing them equal their highest ever finish.
-
Higher bar needed. Much higher bar (says someone from Felling).

Lovely to read a reasoned, rational summary and some proportionate disappointment. I’m all out of words at the moment. Fair play that man 👏.

Fulham vs. Newcastle United: 24/05/26 @ 16:00 (Sky Sports)

Unless he is somewhere out of the ordinary surely he’ll be able to find it in some bar? (Bribery may be required if other fan groups are there). -

Of course not. Best team (in his/their opinion) to win the match, as per usual. And as per usual no guarantees. -
Just had a look at league positions since 1992-93 (all leagues included, so if in PL 1-20, if Championship 21-45 etc). I’ve included mean (average) and median, as latter is less effected by odd outlying seasons. It is prior to this year, but that won’t really make a difference. NUFC’s performance is: mean 11th, median 11th. Best is 2nd (twice), top six 10 times. Season’s outside top flight: 3/33. Sunderland’s performance is: mean 25th, median 21st, top six 0 times. Season’s outside top flight: 17. Middlesbrough’s performance is: mean 22nd, median 22nd, top six 0 times. Season’s outside top flight: 19.

Given your interest, you don’t appear to know much about what is generally true for people with regards to mental health. Thinking it is determined by finances or other environmental factors or that the presence of good ‘social’ resources protects somebody from crushing depression, hopelessness, or tormenting anxiety, just isn’t true.

That made me laugh out loud. And triggered a memory of trying to get a chant going “LUUUUKK” (not my best tbf…) when he was brought on as a sub vs the Makems. He was about as effective as Billy Askew was against them a decade earlier in the play offs (odd comparison, I know, but for some reason I thought he was going to make a difference too). God, we have had some shite players.

Didn’t think he came out of the Netflix Miracle of Istanbul documentary very well. They were almost portraying him as being ‘neurodiverse’.
-
Would have been a great ‘sliding doors’ moment. Likelihood is he would have chucked the dummy for a few months and then had a great half season and we’d all have been better off for it.

Will Osula: Goal vs Man United nominated for PL Goal of the Season
Coffee_Johnny replied to a topic in Football
That’s even more weird. Really hope we never see it again. (Edit: Really, really, hope he shows on over 25 occasions next season that he isn’t going to it again!). -
Surely they can’t seriously expect to sign Gordon for £55m? We paid £45m in 2022-23, he is now in his prime, has become a full international (2 goals in 17 appearances), played in the Champions League (10 in 12 appearances—probably the best player in the world of his ilk, Kvaratskhelia, has 10 in 15) and he has four years on his contract. No wonder Howe is bigging him up. Only way he goes for anything near that is if he is absolutely finished here.

I’m not that arsed about finishing above them to be fair. It hurt to lose to them twice; I felt like a feral berserker after the home loss! (Odd what it brings out in you). But in the wider scheme of things I can appreciate they have had a great season; for them. It won’t be their best but think it will be in their top three in the PL era, which says everything really. They must have been shitting themselves starting this season with a load of newbies after scraping promotion whilst really struggling to score goals. They have by most standards (I mean, could have been better, e.g. we once finished third after being promoted) over performed, signed some players who have been good enough and beaten us twice. Great effort and a manager who looks like he knows how to get a tune out of what he has got. Next season is ‘second album’ time, but who knows. Given what the fanbase have been through (obviously, they are not all RTG-stylee fuckwits) and a penchant for the underdog, a tiny bit of me can’t help being pleased for them. Bragging rights should be a long game really, one which, for anyone who is aware of and can hold in mind, the last thirty years, we have comfortably won. We’ll see them again next year and let’s see how we all feel after that.
-
Hope you enjoy it anyway man. What a great notch on your life experience belt. Especially if you get to see some NUFC representation on the pitch.

On recent form I agree. Tino hasn’t been at 100% since he came back from injury (last time). I do think though when they are both 100% Tino probably just edges it. Maybe not next season when Hall has another year’s development. He may well have a higher ceiling. Certainly shown enough confidence and promise; not many full backs have played that well against Yamal. Really thought they would both be going to the World Cup and would be England’s full back pairing. Maybe next season.

That saves me ten minutes of catch-up cheers! 👍
