  1. 24 ? His career is quickly going down the toilet. On his second loan spell with a lower La Liga club. Doesn’t appear to be showing any sort of ambition to be playing to his ability. *edit - lower as in mid table before the nit pickers nit pick

    Joelinton

A general consensus is beginning to form I see, and yeah could well be right. He’s not doing himself any favours in the chances he’s getting. I would however like to see him play in our strongest side, as part of it, not coming on to replace someone who’s doing a good job. At least give him that chance before he’s flogged off somewhere. A sort of no.10 role, either centre, left or right. Just see what he can do on the ball when there are other players running ahead of him creating space. He’s not a hold up player..
  3. I thought he had a few decent touches and was always looking to bring others into it, especially on the left. Was it Shelvey he set up? Remember thinking he should have done better with the shot.
  4. Krafth is dogshit but that’s our worst position generally. The last decent right back we had was Habib Beye, unless I’m missing someone obvious. Manquillo for all his improvement is still poor by comparison to actual decent RB’s
  5. Havertz looked poor but as mentioned before he’s only trained for a week. Not a good first impression though. Chelsea didn’t look great generally, Kante doesn’t look the same player at all. They’re a mess at the back.
  6. Murphy is in for Atsu. Fair enough.
  7. It’s not Mike Ashley, or Steve Wraith. They don’t have the personality to pull something like that off. It’s someone close to the club but who might have a little disdain for the owner. It’s a supporter for sure. There was a joke about Cisse being offside recently, you’d have to know like.. I’m going with Lee Marshall.
  8. It was a decent debut, but let’s not get carried away either. We’ve been rank in the midfield for a long long time. That an average midfielder (not an insult btw!, to be an average midfielder in the premier league you have obviously got to be decent) like Hendrick can walk into the team and look like one of the better players just highlights how weak we’ve been.
  9. You want to be winning to keep the feel good factor. Even if he plays 2 or 3 of the current first team, a loss would effect them. It’s so stupid having cup games so early.. Play the strongest side and make subs once the job is done. Blackburn are by no means a foregone conclusion though, anything other than full effort and we’re out, again.
  10. Newcastle Online goes gay for Callum ? A big gay pile. That’s what this thread has become.
  11. They could well be on 0 points by November.
  12. Good performance. We looked comfortable, especially second half. Great debuts from Lewis, Wilson and Hendrick. The formation and line up today will not be our best for the season but 3 points on the board and confidence is up. Both Miggy and Joelinton looked sharp coming on too, didn’t see enough of Longstaff but looks like there’ll be some competition for places this season.
  13. Not totally disappointed with the line up. Hendrick and Hayden will have to keep their midfield quiet, get Shelvey on the ball to bring ASM and Wilson into things. Carroll will know their back line inside out.. he’ll know exactly where chances will come.

    Isaac Hayden

Great news in fairness.. one of a few vital players for the starting 11 if fit.
  15. If it’s to be played out in the media, the onus is now on Mike Ashley/The Club to provide evidence that it was rejected.
  16. Any sort of legal action is what the PL will be desperate to avoid. We all know football in general is highly corrupt, the PL will have their skeletons for sure. This could just be the tip of the iceberg for them.
  17. Really thought PIF had walked for good on this.. This is what might have happened, officially yes they did remove themselves in terms of discussions, meetings etc. Why waste time on what lawyers could do etc. Then MBS meets with Boris, it’s brought up at some stage in informal discussions. Boris assures he’ll look into it. The PL get a telling off. They stress that they can’t be seen to wave through the deal as it would upset too many sponsors. But they indicate if paperwork gets submitted in a certain way, they can reject the deal which would then leave it open to an appeal process or legal action which would make it seem like they tried to do the bidding of the powers that be. Ashley’s lawyers make contact with the buyers who had to make a decision to come back to the table.. which they did and paperwork was submitted that would force the PL to reject the deal. I would assume PIF have been given a timeline for this that is acceptable, otherwise they wouldn’t have agreed to it. It’s the only thing that makes sense. The PL were more than happy to leave this in limbo.. something has happened over the last few days that’s forced their hand.
  18. Man that video of Masters, he looks far less smug now doesn’t he. I really thought this was dead as a dodo but I think some of us including me owe Manorpark an apology. Sorry buddy, you were not wrong!
  19. The midfield is the weak link for sure. The thing with Shelvey is that he just doesn’t track back effectively, he tries.. but he doesn’t have the mind set to tackle in the way that Hayden does. Hendrick might be the answer there but who do you drop? Leave out Shelvey and the creativity takes a hit.
  20. Not sure where else to put this post. So when/if we have everyone fit, who will play? I think 3 of the 4 new signings are a given to start. But what about the Longstaffs etc.. Also not sure what’s happening with Shelvey but if he’s staying and not injured he has to be a starter surely? As much as I love Miggy, I think he’ll be more useful as an impact sub (at least to start with), I like what I’ve seen of Sean Longstaff in an advanced role, the physicality is going to give teams problems. Hayden gets the nod on what we know so far, Hendrick might be the better player but he’ll have to show that when he gets a chance. This would be my starting line up.. which would obviously revert to 4-5-1 when we don’t have the ball.
  21. Good lord, Ritchie actually looks insane in that clip. Nice to see the new lads settling in quickly ?
  22. Clearly Joelinton is a better player than what we saw last season. Thrown up front on his own asked to be Andy Carroll, what did anyone expect. He did miss chances that a striker should be scoring but he’s not a striker and we basically created fuck all for him all season anyway. With others getting forward and creating space, he will look a different player, also with the benefit of having a year to settle in. I haven’t given up on him yet.
