Does anybody think it's just a negotiating position? There are a few in the media saying it (Pat Nevin, Greg Dyke both said it during my drive in to work this morning). Seems a bit full on to me - doesn't leave them a lot of room for subsequent manoeuver and is a hell of an opening salvo (unless it's been playing out quietly for months and months, of course - I haven't been keeping up).

And this is the reason that the PL need to grow a pair, call them out and say that they'll be attracting too much external funding and as such will compromise the "integrity" of their competition (which is fucking laughs, of course, but you know what I mean)

Said it when this first came up a few months ago, and still agree with this now. I'd rather not get taken over by Saudi Arabia and watch us playing competitive football against "lesser" teams in a league which isn't skewed and tainted by the super-rich.

I started reading this from page 27 this morning after seeing the news on the BBC and reading about the mystery unnamed three. Was convinced that a Saudi owned NUFC would have been unmasked as one of the three by the time I caught up

I guess it really comes down to how much meaning you attach to 'Amanda Staveley is still trying to buy the club'. I don't doubt that she is, I'm just increasingly coming to the conclusion that she'll never manage it no matter how much she wants to

There are more possibilities than just those two scenarios, including Caulkin continuing to act as a mouthpiece for a bullish Staveley which is, after all, what his job inevitably involves (what Wandy said, aye)
