This is a great shout I know exactly what you mean and aye, I haven't felt it since Shearer was in his prime

No way to get Radio Newcastle commentary online? It's always brilliant and the crowd sounds immense
-
Noise seems canny despite the stadium apparently being custom designed to suck it up and send it out of the atmosphere completely unheard Perhaps it's more related to the crowd and the circumstances than the stadium after all
-
One of the things that's absolutely killed the game for me like, it's a fucking joke the way it's been implemented

Top class coupon busting win for Alnwick last night against high flying Jarra. Great game and we were frankly fucking brilliant. Really hoping we can survive in NL Division 2 now, there are definitely three worse teams (and realistically only a couple are likely to be relegated)

"we got some class-leading sports infrastructure architects involved and asked them to come up with a design that would be sympathetic to the green space that's been here for centuries and to nearby Leazes Terrace, but would also pay tribute to the area's industrial past and to the strength of the people of Newcastle. Ultimately what we'll create will be equal parts cutting edge sports stadium and a monument to the area, something of timeless quality which future generations can enjoy the same way as St James' Park has been for decades"

Well, not quite what I meant was that I would rather elite football 2025 didn't require us to be balance sheet champions, and I would rather we played the mackems and Port Vale every week if it meant that we could just get on with enjoying football rather than worrying about the myriad distractions and miseries of PSR and financial fair play. I'm not representative any more though, I prefer non league to Newcastle these days largely because of the way the game has been subjugated by politics and money. Building in essentially the same place is obviously the least appalling option if we're moving but I just see what people are posting as exemplars of good modern stadium design and I'm I personally think we'll lose something if the stadium isn't as imposing from the outside as SJP currently is, and given the current penchant for bowls and soft curves I don't think it will be.

Tough times for Berwick, it's hard to see how they can run that stadium getting 412 in but it's quite expensive entry and I suppose the speedway must bring a bit in.
-
I think there's a bit of revisionism going on here like I don't think anybody is claiming that SJP is always a fearsome cauldron of noise in 2025, more that a new stadium is unlikely in itself to improve matters. It's starting to feel like folk believe with sophisticated engineering we can maybe amplify the muttering and groaning of the long suffering NUFC crowd into a rousing and appropriately paced Blaydon Races with perhaps enough residual sound energy trapped in the clever design to drive a turbine, sell a bit of electricity to the National Grid and sort our PSR issues

Equally underserved draw today away at Ryton and Crawcrook. Alnwick largely appalling but held on and took their chance when it finally came. The definition of smash and grab, home side will be furious
-
Not sure if this was already a thing but if that's based on my earlier post then full disclosure I was just making it up and I've got no idea if they'd be allowed to make Leazes Terrace into an ultra classy conference centre hotel and bars venue Might solve the problem like

A standard premier league ticket barely represents value for money any more I had always assumed that corporate was really designed for people who aren't actually football fans but wanted to experience the thrill of seeing and hearing more common folk roaring at stuff, maybe that was wrong
-
Those guys filling the corporate seats at Spurs and Arsenal are in London anyway though. It's easy enough to take them to North London and give them a corporate football experience. There are not thousands and thousands of wealthy clients hanging around Stowell Street who are knocking back the chance of corporate at SJP because we haven't strengthened at RW for years and are just waiting for better football. Again safety imo

all these are honking like

Aye, this has been on my mind for a while. 60k seats from expansion of existing = "ridiculous outlay for minimal extra seating", 70k seats from a complete new build from nothing = "totally worth it". I guess we all have our preference that we can make justifications for. For me if there was a way to make the East Stand boxes, corporate, media and otherwise posh bits (not sure if we can given the size of the East Stand, but I'm sure they could buy up Leazes Terrace and make that part of the corporate and premium day have the bars and conference centres open through the week for non-matchday revenue and to satisfy the Save Leazes Terrace enthusiasts) and the rest of the stadium a more unified and well thought through fan experience, I reckon it might go some way toward solving what atmosphere issues we have. Cameras looking west rather than east at a wall of fans would be a much better spectacle, as long as they could find a way to get the NEWCASTLE UNITED lettering between the tiers so it can still be seen

Will never forget the fool he made of Jack Grealish whose own career appears to have vanished down the shitter since his ill-advised dig
