He'll be one of those rare half time heroes that makes it right to the centre circle. Me and the lad who sat next to me in the Gallowgate used to have informal bets on how far the hero would make it onto the pitch; some just waved for a yard or two then turned back when it was clear their hero status wasn't enough to sustain a longer walk, but the heavy hitters got enough love to take them out to the middle sometimes. I reckon Miggy will be a centre spotter

Mackems lewsin with a keeper OG according to BBC?
-
Definitely some truth to that also

I guess what I'm saying is that it looks to me like the desire to be a Big and Significant Club is changing the way our supporters think. I feel like the fans last time we were good, 20+ years ago, wouldn't have been as intolerant of a player like Almiron's perceived shortcomings as we are now, and wouldn't have been so desperate for him to be moved on.
-
Yeah I'm just saying that miggy's apparent fall from grace coincides with that sort of thinking imo. It's changing us as a fan base, I think.
-
Nah, I don't think he would. He's the epitome of a useful and completely professional squad player imo and would have been seen as such. This narrative of him being utterly worthless and not deserving of a place at NUFC has developed alongside people's rush to get on board with PSR if that's what it takes to be a Big Club imo. He can be frustrating, aye, but so can Anthony Gordon
-
I'll be charitable and guess one turned into the other
-
Says more about elite level football in 2025 than anything else that some people are falling over themselves to get rid of a player like this so we can satisfy arbitrary and clearly unfair financial regulations. So fucking sad what this game has come to. No criticism of people who accept PSR for what it is and see moves like this as the price of progress btw; my criticism is of the regulators only, and the leagues that have sleepwalked into this position. He'll be a hell of a half time hero some day

Why is there a market for people who aren't boxers boxing
-
That sweet sweet commercial success though
-
There's going to be one fewer stadium in the PL that people worry is better than ours before too much longer
-
Just seen what looked like the Bournemouth coach driver stuck with his bus on quayside because of the run this morning. They might have to walk up
-
I'm never going to agree that what's happening now is just a perfectly natural evolution of English football's journey since 1992 and of Newcastle United, and I don't agree with a fair bit of that in all honesty but it's all good, we don't have to agree on what we think is important or what we think is worth risking the sacrifice of
-
There's nothing more I can add, really. We've seen for the last decade the control that's exerted on the game by the big clubs and the leagues and organisations that run the game, to the detriment of the other clubs. I personally would prefer that Newcastle weren't viewed as part of that. It's not out of any sense of piety and it's nothing to do with my views on our owners, it's just about how I'll feel hearing Newcastle being talked about as part of the problem by other clubs' fans.

Nah, really. I can't believe the outrage at the proposed super league breakaway has so quickly become just wanting desperately to be part of that same cartel that we all know is completely and utterly fucking the sport. If people want to be part of that because it's the only way to compete then fair enough, like I say I'm not trying to speak for anyone else. I think it's a fucking shit state of affairs and have no interest in us being part of pulling the ladder up
-
Well I assumed that went without saying I'm obviously not speaking on behalf of anybody else, I felt like this forum was advanced enough not to require an 'imo' for every point like I haven't had a season ticket for ten or fifteen years though
-
Exactly this this pipe dream of Being Able To Compete Long Term; and a stadium that can magically convert the sound of old men muttering into the cacophonous roar that we all know perfectly well is there already when the crowd is up for it. Literally cannot believe folk are clamouring to be part of the super league elite that we all rightly turned our noses up at a few years ago. Appreciate I'm in an ever diminishing minority here but would honestly rather the cash dried up and we spent the next 30 years playing the mackems and Port Vale
-
I just want football to not be a fucking wank financial regsathon any more, I think. Such a pyrrhic success to aim at, just trying to join the rich kids because we also are newly rich but being given shit hoops to jump through for their amusement I'm 50 this year so I reckon I've now reached the time of life I can legitimately warn people that they'll rue the day
-
But if the aim is to be like Tottenham Hotspur then I'm just not that interested
-
Makes a change tbf, thread has been pretty samey for months
-
Seriously a world where people think that it's fair enough that footballing success should be rewarded with punishments and points deductions if the teams involved don't get with the programme a team that overspent but is currently beating every fucker with a brilliantly coached and motivated Chris Wood and Anthony Elanga, with zero disrespect intended to either of them
-
If only there was a high flying club in the premier league, maybe second or thereabouts, that hadn't sold its soul for corporate glory to demonstrate that it's still possible to football your way to success in 2025 Less than a decade ago we used to vilify and mock Mike Ashley for wanting us to be balance sheet champions and now we're all desperate to be balance sheet champions football is so shit now, man
