  1. Because he'll be going to the training ground for the medical
  2. As per above, Digne is next
  3. A senior source told Telegraph Sport: “We are taking it one transfer at a time. The market is a difficult one for us, clubs are quoting a lot of money for the players we want and some are simply not for sale, but we are working through things and more will follow after Tripper. “We are close on a few things, but this is football and you never know what is going to happen until they are actually signed.” One of the next targets will be Everton full-back Lucas Digne. The Frenchman has fallen out with Everton manager Rafael Benítez and Newcastle are hoping that deal could progress quickly. Newcastle are also considering a bid for Diego Carlos, the Sevilla centre-back, as they look at alternatives to Sven Botman.
  4. https://inews.co.uk/sport/football/newcastle-united-transfer-news-kieran-trippier-latest-deal-watford-premier-league-1379542 Newcastle United hope to conclude a deal for England and Atletico Madrid defender Kieran Trippier in time to integrate him into the squad before they play Watford in mid-January. The deal is not finalised yet and Newcastle will need to improve on their initial offer to bring the player to St James’ Park – but i understands there is optimism that months of preparatory work will bear fruit for the new owners. If they can come to an agreement on a fee a deal could be signed off as early as the end of this week. Trippier has been sounded out about a move and reacted positively to the prospect of joining a team in the thick of a relegation fight but negotiations around potential release clauses still need to be ironed out. Newcastle United’s owners wanted to be quick out of blocks in January and tabled an offer within hours of the transfer window opening for Trippier, one of their top targets. i understands they are also working on a second deal which they hope can be concluded swiftly too. The club want as many as six arrivals this month, and the loan market will be utilised.
  5. The new year message from yesterday: "Let’s take that positivity into 2022 as we aim to progress on and off the pitch. We have very important fixtures ahead of us and a January transfer window that we have worked tirelessly to prepare for, so let’s face our challenges head on and look forward to the second half of the season with optimism."
  6. Every club sponsorship deal worth more than £1 million a year will have to be submitted to the Premier League to be checked that it is not an “associated party” transaction, according to new regulations sent to top-flight clubs. It adds: “Where the board determines that [it] is an associated party transaction or that it has reasonable grounds to suspect that it is otherwise than at arm’s length, it will conduct a fair market value assessment of it.” Each club will have to provide financial details of all sponsorship deals they have done since 2016 to form a “databank” that will be used to determine fair market values. Promoted clubs will have to provide the past five years of their sponsorship transactions. The regulations state that the information would only be used for the fair market value assessments and would be “subject to strict information security measures agreed by the board and clubs, including as to access rights, storage, retention and deletion”.

  10. New coach to work with Howe https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/newcastle-liverpool-coaching-staff-mark-leyland-b1975990.html Newcastle United have pulled off a backroom coup in an aid to navigate away from relegation danger by poaching Mark Leyland from Liverpool to be their first-team coach analyst. The 36-year-old joined the Anfield club in 2013 from Burnley, where he developed a strong working relationship with Eddie Howe – a bond that stretched beyond the professional, with the pair continuing to keep in touch after their paths diverged. Leyland moved to Newcastle last week with the blessing of Jurgen Klopp and Pep Lijnders, who were keen for him to stay but appreciated he couldn’t rebuff the opportunity to advance his career by assuming greater responsibility and shifting into a coaching set-up. He had been head of post-match and elite player development analysis at Liverpool, so the job represents a promotion.
  11. Article based on the new rules https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2021/12/14/premier-league-clubs-must-prove-commercial-deals-represent-fair/ Under the new rules, all commercial deals will have to be submitted to the Premier League’s board, currently searching for a new chairman since the departure of Gary Hoffman. Those deals will then be scrutinised by an external assessor with independence who will determine whether they represent fair market value. The clubs who submit new deals will also be able to make the case for those deals being legitimate. Details of all commercial deals agreed by clubs will be held by the Premier League and the data anonymised so that assessors can compare deals across different clubs and different endorsement sectors. There are also new rules for transparency when it comes to paying managers, players, other coaches and staff. Clubs will have to be able to demonstrate that all key employees are paid out of the club’s approved budget within financial fair play and are not, for example, employed by other companies within the structure that owns the clubs itself.
