Crazy news. I quite want to keep him though
-
While I tend to agree with the football finance experts on here about the fee, I'm not in the least bit bothered. I think him and Woltemade have the potential to be a fearsome strikeforce in time. I also think we've done some good squad building in general and I'll be excited for the actual football instead now.

I doubt the sell on clause will matter. I suspect this is his last big career move
-
It goes without saying that none of us are happy with how this has played out or how the club have handled it. Even though it's Isak, Liverpool and the press who are most at fault it's still a terrible precedent. But, if we get an experienced striker to go alongside Woltemade then I'll still be massively looking forward to the season. Without always wondering if every time Isak clutches his hamstring that he's just clowning about waiting for a January/summer move.

I was disappointed at the time yesterday, but two points away at what will be tough away grounds isn't to be sneezed at. Added to an excellent Liverpool performance in which we were unlucky. It's all too obvious what we're lacking and it disrupts the whole front of the pitch. We'd have a good few more points with a quality striker, so not too downhearted today, having got some of our tougher fixtures out of the way already.

Seriously a great window if we get this done and then Wissa too. I was going to say someone like Wissa, but he's the striker i'd love to see here. One who is raw for the PL wanting to be the star man and one in Wissa who is battle hardened, scores and wants his chance to play against the likes of Barcelona during his career ffs. Sell Isak in January when other clubs around Europe have injuries. Until then, he rots. Well, if he he doesn't have Playstation injuries or bedsores.

When the moon hits your eye Like a big pizza pie, Woltemade When your striker is shit And behaves like a tit Woltemade

The messaging seemed to be saying that, i.e. that he's obviously been given a clear path to being the new number 9, whether it's gradual this year or not. So it's not that I disagree, I'm delighted with the news if we sign him and hope that is what happens, my point was more that what Edwards was saying is a counterpoint to all the media nonsense going the other way than whether it is true or not. Too much of this is being played out in the press or social media, a lot of which is with questionable motives. So it's good to have something going back to contradict it. Whether it's true or not? One lesson from this summer is that I'm not sure it matters if it even slightly strengthens the club's hand.

The Luke Edwards message about Woltemade being the Wilson replacement, whether you believe it or not, is helpful. Not just annoying online twitter trolls, pro Liverpool media and probably Isak plus agent as well, but making clear that we won't sell him unless we have to, so it's a better club bargaining position. I'm as tired of the Isak circus as much as anyone else. But you also don't say he's for sale to a single bidder who is a rival for trophies and for far too little.

That's a meltdown of an interview.

Probably nearly half an hour left with added time, Man U will get back into this against fresh legs vs a league 2 side. But they haven't half looked a rabble so far and Onana's confidence will be completely shot, if it wasn't already.

Thought he was playing Guess Who
-
What a stupid sending off. But he tried hard, he played well and just had another rush of blood. Still, what annoys me as much as the suspension is that with ten men in that match we gave it everything and now we are carrying injuries which will affect us further. Who knows if we'd have avoided them if we hadn't been down to 10, but it doesn't matter because either way he damaged the team. Some players always need to play on the edge, but then you look at the magnificent Bruno as an example. Not just last night where he was superb, but when he played on a tightrope trying to avoid a yellow for a suspension for something like 10 games and somehow pulled it off.
-
I don't see him going anywhere and that has to be the right call no matter what. He'll play again, but this is why I'd want an incentive based contract so he can't just mope about. But anyway I'd still drop him for Osula for the high profile CL games just for a laugh. That's no slight on Osula, great equaliser yesterday, just to see his moody mug on the bench. One decent striker and we'd have between 2 and 5 more points I reckon. Can't stand what he's doing to the club, but equally can't sell him.

Edit. Didn't mean to quote anyone. Was just scrolling through and had fat fingers.

Bonkers game really, should have at least a point if not three. Bruno was immense.
-
Barnes with a clinical effort early doors. Liverpool to equalise through a dodgy pen with Ekitike second half. And then Schar to get fed up, march down the pitch and then blast one in from long range to settle it. Cilla Black in tears.

Cilla Black and John Bishop at pitch side, I heard.
