  1. As much as all players believe in themselves and signed the ridiculous long term contracts, I can't imagine Chelsea will ever stop buying new players year in, year out.

there will come a point when Chelsea wil be stuck with players they can't shift due to performance or even more so players refusing to leave due to the 3,4 or 5 years left on their contracts

  2. I do hate Chelsea..  simply for the fact that they were and should still be crap.

But somehow they have had two owners who have broken the system... Whilst we had one who wouldn't spend and the others who can't

  3. Everyone except one person was hyping him up for the Euros.

His one appearance, although short was positive.

Then something happened behind the scenes that seemed to push him out of the spotlight.

Did he really say too much in the interview, did he get injured falling off the bike, did he just realise that he was never going to get is chance.

Add to that he come back late from preseason compared to last summer when he was fighting fit.

Give him time and he will be back to his best.. but I also do think he is a confidence player and the summer has hurt him

I just started attending matches when Franz Carr played for Newcastle but was too young to know if he was any good? I do remember the crowd getting excited when he was on the ball.

Any one remember what he was like?

Well he was signed under Ossie so as much as he looked good the team made up of kids were losing.

By the time he come back from a bad injury Keegan had already started to bring his own players in.

Shame as he was fast and direct but don't think he has the crossing ability of say Sellers, Sheedy or future wingers we would bring in

53 goals in 312 appearances. 10 of them in the Championship.

13 years career as a front line striker for us.

    Mindblowingly bad.

79 in total including 15 in Europe.

Honestly for all his critics he is exactly the type of 3rd choice striker we need right now.

At the beginning of the window we wanted RW, CB, CB/LB, ST.

    We’ve signed 1 of them.

    Thats why people are disappointed.

I'm not going to disagree that it matches my own wishlist but maybe in reality we are looking to sell a  miggy, Wilson or trippier before we buy a replacement in their position.

If we went out and bought their replacements now and didn't manage to sell them.. it increases the chances of selling Bruno, Gordon to clear FFP challenge next year.

I'm just frustrated watching the likes of Villa and Man Utd strengthen, who are our direct rivals.

Cheers for the condescending reply though

Villa have Champions League but have had to sell some big players and youngsters to get wiggle room... Can you imagine the forum if we sold the likes of Diaz or Diaby (Bruno/Gordon).

Man U always spend big... Mostly on the wrong players but they have such vast turnover compared to us.

I'm more frustrated about our commerical deals / turnover not moving quicker because the fact we had to sell players shows that we will spend the money when we physically can.

I just don’t know how we’re in 2024, 3 years after the takeover and talking about (almost 30 year old) Jacob Murphy starting the first few games of the season on the right of a front 3. I don’t know if you can put it down to a lack of boldness, planning, ambition or whatever but in context of the clubs we’re trying to finish above its amateur hour. Same with Wilson still being 2nd choice striker.

Because when the other option is someone who can't cross or assist.. then Murphy's positive contributions make him appear more valuable than he ever should be.

However as a backup to an improved rw signing.. I would be more than happy to keep him as a sub / reserve

  9. It's more the drop off from the Purple patch to the norm...

I know confidence is a massive thing in football and he must have felt amazing during that period but surely he must know the only way for that to continue was to repeat the process.

I can't remember him cutting in from 30 yards out and shooting last season.. more running as far as he could then passing back.

Maybe his injury was part of the mental process and he was scared to fully use his pace.
