At some point (if we want to push into the champions league) we need to spend lots of money and bring in a lot more players ….budget or no budget teams don’t become successful and stay successful without spending big …it’s a fact Stats don’t lie , check out the wages / club expenditures and see which teams finish higher So if we are looking to kick on (whenever that time maybe) …. We will have to compete with Man City / Real Madrid / Barcelona to get the best players if not ….they will continue to dominate Its not rocket science As it stands we have a long long way to go to get anywhere near that level As mentioned , they are in for the long haul Let’s enjoy it , starting tomorrow

If it is true and we only have £20m upfront it makes sense why we are struggling in the market however it doesn’t make sense in regards to ……..how have we only got that ?? We spent £3m on pope? I know we have a long term plan and I applaud that However we have to realise we are in a very tough league with lots of teams , with lots of money Man City , Liverpool , spurs , Chelsea , arsenal , man united will continue to spend and spend big. We can try to catch up but they will always continue to strengthen All of the teams in Europe / at the top have mega wealthy owners if you have owners worth 500 billion or 50 billion , it doesn’t really matter. Once you get past 20/30 billion and have ambition that’s enough to attract top top players !!

Devils advocate i hear everyone saying next summer we can go big as we have better sponsors/ etc etc We then go in for 60/70 million players and teams ask us to pay 80/90 million same scenario. / Same FFP Sometimes you have to have to bite the bullet. I hear a lot of people saying Maddison isn’t worth 50/60 million …what happens if he flops the same can be said in reverse whst happens if he’s an outstanding success and pushes us into Europe and in turn helps us attract better players top targets - are top targets for a reason we don’t always have to go above our valuation if we have two or three cards up our sleeves with players with similar credentials and potentially lower fees however sometimes it might be worth having that player in the team than worrying about the next window or ffp A lot of big players have the chance to shine at the World Cup and their valuations will sky rocket
