They've already got into the opposition box more and we're not even three minutes in.

Pretty absurd result in the end. Would've never seen that coming when the game ticked into the 80th minute and we'd made one substitution. Walker as poor as last game. Foden as poor as the previous three games and still can't stay onside. Trippier seemingly crocked and has screwed Guehi (going to be a huge miss) out of a Semi Final. Kane and Bellingham once again anonymous for large large parts of the 90 minutes. We won but I really don't see any way we can be confident about a win against Switzerland. Feels like we'll get turned over comfortably.

I actually feel bad for Slovakia. I really struggled to be excited about that goal and that's exactly the type of goal that SHOULD get you excited. Southgate actively seemed to be trying to fuck it up.
-
I think this England team would benefit hugely from Man City being removed from the league. Stones and Walker are so drilled in the Man City way they do nothing but pass to each other and Foden can't do anything unless it's put perfectly on a plate for him.

£10M does seem crazily low. But if there's some equally low buy back clause option in there or like 30-50% sell on clause I'd be fine with it. It needs to be done though, he'll probably barely had playes this season with Tonali back and it means Miley can hang around and get some extra experience in the match day squad. (So that he can then be sold in the next summer or two when we're in the same position again).

Well shit, that's a shame. Feel like it's actually not quite as bad as Minteh in terms of potential but obviously sucks in the heart more cos he's an academy lad. Perhaps we'll actually see what he's capable of now.

If, and it's a big if that Shaw is fit to start this one (as he said so himself a day or two ago) then I can see the logic of starting with Foden. But if it's Trippier or anyone else at LB then Gordon should be starting.
-
Seems like he's okay but how ridiculous would it have been for Gordon to miss out on Sundays game (especially as Foden is possibly unavailable) because he fell off his bike.

Amazing stuff from Georgia. Even getting that result against Portugal in a major tournament is an achievement but to also qualify for the last 16 is something else entirely.
-
Happens regularly. Although Iceland 2016 was meant to be "easy".
-
St George has clearly had a word on our behalf with his fellow followers. Slovakia would be much better than the Dutch, no doubt about that.
-
Wow. Could be a penalty for Georgia. He definitely kicks him. Harsh maybe
-
So it wasn't a Serbian striker in the end it was a Serbia midfielder/defender. Close enough I suppose.
-
Well that wasn't who I thought would get booked for diving.
-
I wonder how many times a player has to dramatically go down after losing the ball and the ref doesn't give it before he gets booked for simulation. There must be a limit before the ref thinks about, falling to the floor everytime must be considered some type of attempt to manipulate the refs decision.
-
That's a shame. Could've done with them winning. Can't see Georgia getting it done.
-
That moment was the closest we've come to making any errors defensively. Spain and Germany are the worrying ones. They've been good at both ends of the pitch.
-
This is true, just as we saw in the Iceland game pre tournament.
-
Say all you want about how England have played but we haven't conceded shitty goals like that one. Portugal, Italy, and Netherlands have been undone a couple of times like that.
-
I can absolutely see where you're coming from based on the fact he's having to go home and come back etc. but I just saying I would not be shocked to see the same team. Foden won't have to do sweet FA when he goes back home, it's not like he'll be having sleepless night looking after a newborn, they'll have multiple nannies and what not. He might even just go back home for the one night and then come back for all we know.
-
You could say that for 5/6 other players as well. He had the chance to do that against Slovenia from the off, or at least make changes early to rest them and he didn't do it.
-
Big Sam got him the job by being a gullible fool. Very much the biggest sliding doors moment of English football in the last 20 years (aside from the penalty misses in the final against Italy)
-
Damn if this had happened just three days later Southgate could've been forced into the best change he's ever made at a tournament. Shame he'll probably still start the same team that started against Slovenia.
-
It's very West Ham/Spurs/Arsenal isn't. They aren't content with progressing by any means necessary. They want to see "their" brand of football.
-
Well well there we go. Denmark draw. England finish top of the group. Job done, but what a poor job it was.
