Watching this French team make you realise how much Southgate models his tactics and style on Deschamps. The difference is they play Mbappe and Thuram (and sometime Dembele as well) who can run in behind AND play neat one twos plus they have Kounde and Hernandez as full backs who provide width. Southgate has chosen a model to copy and not picked the right players to copy it with.

They think they've got one over on us is mainly the reason. The other is they think Ashworth is the missing piece of their shit show jigsaw.
-
Feels too good to be true really, probably still costs the best part of £50M. He'll end up somewhere like Spurs or maybe Villa if they have any money to spend.
-
I think there really needs to be a concerted effort from Newcastle fans on Twitter to start spreading misinformation about the fee. I want to see hundreds of different accounts tweeting that they know how much it is, everything ranging from £1.99 + Tom Heaton to £30M.
-
He's already poured Trippiers pickle juice down the sink.
-
I'm not surprised this still being talked about. People love being the bearer of bad news online and so they are just making stuff up out of nothing now. We'll hear next that Arne Slot tried to sign him whilst in Holland and that Liverpool have already met with the players family/representatives and Gordon's been searching in the Liverpool area on RightMove. It's all bollocks and you can always tell it's bollocks when journos start arguing with people online about it.

Some even said £100M. But unfortunately for them I believe the people who actually have done the maths on it. I wouldn't believe any of the journalists working for Sky about what they had for breakfast let alone football finances. The annoying thing is we may never know the truth. Or at least not until the accounts are released annually (whenever that is).
-
Depends how much we were over the limit. Most suggestions were it was somewhere between £20M - £30M.
-
£20M seems bang on. Get this sorted ASAP and then get some serious bids in for another RW so they can be in before pre season starts.
-
Anything over £10M would be pretty incredible considering. We'll find out the actual fee paid at some point but I'd be surprised if it was anytime soon, Man Utd will want to keep it quiet if they've forked out more than that knobhead said they ever would.
-
I'd rather he just goes at this point. Without any European competition I think the (£10M/12M) we'd get for him would be best used this summer rather than him playing his customary 15 games and then going for free.

As is the case with a lot of rumours like this. They need absolutely no source or proof whatsoever. They will come thick and fast over the next month. Gordon is one of the few I didn't expect to hear this stuff about though. Thought it would be all about unsettling Bruno and Isak but it seems some journalists will try anything for the attention.

"Unclear the fee & to which Saudi club, but understand talks have been taking place regarding the 30-year-old."
-
If we had American owners I'd be likely to think this could actually be the case. Newcastle Magpies FC.
-
That might go some way to explaining it. Seems like Ruddy does have his coaching badges so would make a lot of sense that he comes in as basically a coach. Edit: just see the video, he's well aware why he's here and it's not to play games. He's a training keeper.
-
Don't know if that's better than last seasons, Thought He Was Good But Actually He Is Shit Keeper F.C.
-
Well that's all the keepers sorted then. Think we can safely say Dubs is off. Hopefully a couple of million for him after the Euros.
-
Okay maybe England are still shit.
-
I really don't see how Georgia can keep this tempo up. They're defending and attacking with such speed and aggression, they're going to burn out so quickly.
-
If he was £40M before the tournament, he's £60M now. That's a huge amount for a keeper when there's so many other positions that need filling.
-
Rich Georgia.
-
They've already got into the opposition box more and we're not even three minutes in.
-
Pretty absurd result in the end. Would've never seen that coming when the game ticked into the 80th minute and we'd made one substitution. Walker as poor as last game. Foden as poor as the previous three games and still can't stay onside. Trippier seemingly crocked and has screwed Guehi (going to be a huge miss) out of a Semi Final. Kane and Bellingham once again anonymous for large large parts of the 90 minutes. We won but I really don't see any way we can be confident about a win against Switzerland. Feels like we'll get turned over comfortably.
-
I actually feel bad for Slovakia. I really struggled to be excited about that goal and that's exactly the type of goal that SHOULD get you excited. Southgate actively seemed to be trying to fuck it up.
-
I think this England team would benefit hugely from Man City being removed from the league. Stones and Walker are so drilled in the Man City way they do nothing but pass to each other and Foden can't do anything unless it's put perfectly on a plate for him.
