Maguire isn't at fault for their goal. I'd still have Guehi in ahead of him like but he did a good job.
-
Didn't show much in tonight's game to convince me. Very late and clumsy in his tackles. BUT, maybe he just needs games to sharpen up. I'd have him on loan just to see how it goes, especially if we've got one of our midfielders potentially out for 6/7 months.
-
Really? I think we are poor from wide areas. Foden and Rashford have been disappointing. Saying that Grealish wouldn't be an upgrade on either of them so there's not much choice on the bench.
-
Came off at 73 minutes with England losing 2-1. Went on to lose 3-2 in the end. No idea how Livramento actually performed but seems like a bad night for the team in general.
-
Was just about to post how Man City seemed to have ruined anything about Grealish that actually made him exciting. He's such a dull player now, always goes backwards if it's available .
-
Means he'll probably be playing in the highly aggressive and competitive qualification game against Italy. I'd have rather he played today tbh.
-
Really good news. Players like Dummett and Ritchie will probably be leaving next summer so we'll need the Burns and Lascelles to stick around another year or two to give some consistency and leadership in this squad.
-
Even if he is proven to have placed bets and breached rules it certainly doesn't mean a lengthy ban. Toffolo at Forrest given a 5 months suspended ban for breaching 375 rules. Just seems to depend on what exactly the players in question were betting on. If its your own team (like Toney) he'd almost certainly get longer than 5 months.

Champions League 2023/2024: Group F (Newcastle, Milan, Dortmund, PSG)
Mazzy replied to Marko NUFC's topic in Football
I think that's what most of us were hoping for before this UCL campaign began. If we can win our home games, we'll get through the group and that exactly how it's panning out so far. You'd hope that beating Dortmund at home next and then MAYBE coming away with a draw from their place will leave them out of the race entirely. They'd be on 2 points from 4 games and we'd be on 8. It's all hopeful guesswork but that would set us up nicely to qualify against Milan at home. -
I understand the desire for a creative midfielder rather than another Willock/Joelinton/Longstaff type to help break teams down or just give another option. But come January (assuming no more serious injuries) we'll be fully stocked for those 3 midfield positions. So unless one of them leaves and I wouldn't like any of them to do so then it really would be overkill to bring another first team CM into the club.
-
I don't think there is a "first choice" midfield 3 when all are available. I'd say it would all depend on the opposition and what's required in any specific circumstance.
-
Wilson was bench ready against West Ham so you'd think he'll be fully fit by Palace. Isak is hopefully just precautionary so I'd imagine they're both ready for after this break.
-
Pretty much everyone said the same about us last season, how we couldn't keep it up, but we did. West Ham might fall away but Villa and Brighton will be up there. Man U are looking worse but Spurs are alot better and Liverpool also, so it balances out compared to last year and you could even argue there's now one extra team in with a shot at top 4/5.
-
I think the difference is we don't fill positions just for the sake of it. Highlighted by us not bring another CB in during the summer. But I've said it before recently, I can't see us bring anyone (youth players aside) in this January unless we get a major injury to one of our big guns.
-
It's Gordon and Joelinton that are the biggest misses in this game by far. They are so much more aggressive in the press and alway seem to be able to get that recovery run back in. Anderson and Tonali in hindsight should've come off around 75/80 minutes as both of them really struggled to get back and defend for their equaliser. But with injuries it's difficult to see who could've come on aside from maybe Hall or Ritchie for Anderson.
-
It's nice to see we're a couple of points ahead of where we were last season, that's promising considering how many games we've lost already. Problem is we'll need to go more than just a couple of points better to get anywhere near top 4. With Spurs, Liverpool, Villa, Brighton, West Ham all doing considerablely better than last year I can't see any scenario where 71pts gets 4th spot.
-
Would be a very good Miggy replacement next season. Could cost anything from £35M to £50M the way the market is. All depends how this season goes for him, another injury before the summer and I'd steer well clear.
-
Considering the performance midweek, how many injuries we have to key players and missing (arguably) our best player this season in Gordon, an away draw at a team above us in the league is OK. Just hurts a little more when you concede so late on having had a really good chance to make it 3-1 before that.
-
Lascelles, Anderson and Isak pictured in the "morning of the match" post just now. Potentially a hint that Wilson is still out .
-
Would certainly fit the seemingly English based criteria we've got. And also, he's very good at football.
-
I'd be in favour of this kind of thing but instead of the gap between the two stands they can build two massive metal Magpies perched atop it looming down over the pitch. I suppose they could also install some sort of flamethrowers in their mouths as people liked those so much last time we had them.

McTominay is an above average player in a average team that isn't suited to how he plays and cares nothing for what he offers them. Longstaff is also an above average player but he's playing in a much better TEAM where is strengths are magnified and weakness hidden away (for the most part). So hard to judge players playing in the wrong position for teams struggling for confidence and form, you only need look at Gordon whilst playing at Everton to see how it can affect players ability levels. McTominay is a different player entirely for Scotland because he's used in a way that expresses his strengths. Same goes for Longstaff in our team right now. I don't want McTominay here but he's certainly not shit by any means.

If we sign anyone in January I'll be pleased, I don't actually think we will do. Other than perhaps pre contract stuff for players out of contract in the summer. I reckon it took everything we had to get what we did this summer and probably more than expected as Hall was a stroke of good fortune being able to get him on loan. Don't think there's much (if anything) left in our FFP budget for January now. Just a guess though ofcourse.

He'll get that Santa Cruz record easily. Will go down in football history as one of the greatest ever Paraguayan players. Funny to think really kids growing up in Paraguay must look at him in such a different way than we do over here.

2 weeks in a row as well. The fucks happening. We're massive.
