Newcastle United 0-2 Manchester City [LCSF 1st Leg] (13/01/25)

Also weird that the ball is allowed to drop down that low right in front of goal. Poor defending all around. -
We played alright, lack of quality on top and at the back makes it an overall so so performance though. Having the energy to get through a two-legged semis against the squads of City and Arsenal was always going to be a near impossible task. "Defending champions" or not, we never had any business competing in the league cup in a CL season.

Think it benefits more clubs with smaller squads who are going far in the cups myself. -

Why is Trippier on? Have to have some kids who can do a better job? -

No idea either. It was a silly rule anyways. -

Wissa wasn't offside and it was a poor ball from Murphy tbh. -
Sure, just a general rule. Always room for expections. It's not really an arbitrary age though.

Dont think we should get rid, just thought it was as major overexagguration thinking he got mimimum 2 years left at this level. Generally I think we should move on from players before they turn 35. So he got one more season for me.
-
We have given extencions (shorter ofc) to both Krafth and Lascelles, so we know for sure that the medical staff aren't the second coming of Nostradamus. So I think it's just fair that some of us are a bit sceptical about this. But as I said previous, hopefully it will work out. Not ruling that out at all.
-
Mimimum 2 years? Just look at Trippier now compared to two years ago. Things can change fast at that age. If anything it's maximum two years considering how slow he already is.
-
Yeah people being a little hesitant to give a long term contract to a guy that has had 4 different lenghty injuries in two years sure are weird. I know he was fantastic for us when he first arrived, but so was Willock once upon a time. Injuries fuck up a lot of careers sadly.
-
Hopefully will work out, but can't deny I'm a bit sceptical. Assuming he is not taking a pay cut.

[FAC 4R] Aston Villa vs. Newcastle United: 14/02/26 @ 1745 (BBC/TNT)

Christ. Thats two games every week aswell right? Going to be interesting to see how we cope with that. -
Don't think he is particulary injury prone either. Played 37/38 PL games last season. Just missed a couple the season before. Just played way too much last year.

Fantastic player that we clearly don't get everything out of. A pre-season with more time to work with Eddie hopefully will do wonders.
