  1. We don't know what's going on behind the scenes, but by all accounts we promised him a new deal, then Mitchell came in and knocked that on the head. Since then it's just been a lot of 'plan to open talks'. I don't think we've covered ourselves in glory with how we've been with him either.
  2. Obviously his overall game isn't as strong as Isak, but he had the same number of non-pen goals as Isak last season. If we're losing Isak we could do a lot worse than go into the season with Wissa as number 9. We'd need another as a rotation option though.
  3. I'm not siding with Isak, but if we are going to quote teams '£130m+' to sign him, essentially pricing him as the best player in the leauge, we can't turn around and get pissed off he/his agent feels that means he should get paid like one of the best players in the league.
  4. None of this is much fun, but I would at least like to be a fly on the wall at the next meeting between Delap and his agent if they signed Isak, on top of already signing Pedro, since signing him.
  5. If it's Harvey Elliott and 100m+ then that would be one of the least awful scenarios. Edit: And no daft fucking buy back clauses.
  6. I still tend to believe this is a mixture of minor injury and posturing for new contract, but if he is trying to force something, he isn't doing himself any favours fitness wise. Say the worst happens and he goes to Liverpool, that's not something that will be sorted before the middle of next week. At which point he will have had basically no pre-season with 2 and a half weeks left till the opening game.
  7. At this stage I'm more inclined to believe if there's anything nefarious it's more down to his agent basically having him down tools till this contract is sorted. He was told last Summer one was coming, only for the club to renege.
  8. It's too big a risk. The whole point of buying younger talent from Europe is to get them before they get te Sesko's level of attention. So you're paying 30-40 rather than 60+. Wissa at 40m makes way more sense than Sesko at 60. Proven PL goals, doesn't need to bed in.
  9. Yeah, ever since he came back last season it feels like he isn't quite the same player. Thankfully his only real standout performance I can recall in the second half of last season was the league cup final. Only had to make one outstanding save, but looked calm and cool all the way through.
  10. Don't really see the logic in paying 20m more, for a player who scored fewer goals in a weaker league. Never played a minute of PL football. Not the kind of risk we can afford to take.
  11. It's the sporting director role, I didn't really have a 'first pick'. I just think some people are shitting on this guy for the same sort of reason they're shitting on the Wissa move. He isn't high profile enough for them. So they shit on it by spinning it in daft ways. Aye, Randers fans don't like him. But you could also say he oversaw getting them back into the SPL and then winning the title ahead of Celtic. I don't really see how he can help Huddersfield wanting him. Looked into it and he never really seemed close to accepting, and they were making a play for him as he was a former player and it would have been seen as a huge coup. He's been at Forest for a couple of season, that seems to have gone pretty well..
  12. Out of interest, who were you hoping for as new Sporting Director?
  13. Nope, that's how it went down. We were on the verge of signing Pedro, literally had a 'here we go' from that knob. Wilson got injured, a couple days later Isak was done. Remember it so clearly as I was on holiday at the time and thought I was having heat stroke or something.
  14. This is all going to come down to how hard Wissa is going to push. Mbeumo played nice with them, which allowed them to hold out with Man U. Wissa is older, he likely knows it's this Summer or never for a big move. Reckon Brentford are holding out to see if Spurs get involved.
  15. Uninspiring because he didn't take the Huddersfield job when offered? If you look at the recruitment at Forest since he came in (he was still at Rangers when they had that truly mental spree) he has done well. Plus, has a good relationship with Howe already, which is key.
  16. Have you got this lad mixed up with someone? Yes, was at Rangers, but currently at Forest.
  17. This. There is absolutely an element of Wissa not being seen as a glamourous enough name by some people in here/on socials. For someone who will likely come in knowing he will be behind Isak, whilst still getting a lot of game time due to the sheer number of games we'll be playing next season, he is the absolute best option.
  18. It's so bad it almost feels deliberate. Like Adidas' way of pushing back on the mandate of a vaguely Saudi themed top every season.
  19. That truly is the worst top we've had in a while.
  20. Check the 'talks continuing' box.
  21. Jesus, we need an embedded tweet in this thread. Anything to move on from whatever is happening here!
  22. I feel like if you put together a compliation of any strikers goals over the course of a season they would have the same percentage of scrappy goals. Plenty of scrappy/tap in type goals for Isak (not to mention pens), it's just goals like the one at SJP v Liverpool live longer in the memory/get shown more.
  23. Luke O'Nien is likely going to get a not insignifcant amount of Premier League minuets. Doesn't matter who they convince to knock about in their midfield, there's no way a team playing O'Nien (who is barely Championship level) in the PL has a hope of staying up.
  24. Only Salah scored more non-pen goals than Wissa last season. Just that sentence on repeat... till he signs for Spurs.
