We're not signing Paqueta. I imagine he's never even been seriously considered. It's a link that's been entirely generated online by people who see how close he and Bruno is and assume he must be signing because of that alone.

Still don't love it but that badge looks a lot better than the bright yellow blob we'd been seeing in leaks.
Giving me Wimbledon in the 90's vibes.

Agree with this. He's been at Newcastle for two years now, and even if you discount the long periods out with injuries, he just doesn't look like a serious footballer these days. Even when he's playing he looks like he's just come back from his summer holidays.
Think that's a little harsh. Bad timing with the injury towards the end of the season, but before that he was running himself into the ground every game under Howe. Looked way fitter as well.

Aye, the dude says as much in his next tweet.

There is absolutely 0% chance that is even remotely accurate. The fee and the wages would be beyond anything we have seemingly been willing to go to so far.

Let's hope for something today. I don't expect much, just enough to wet my beak.
Get the feeling you may be disappointed. Not saying things aren't happening, more that it's a much tighter ship now. Don't think we will hear about the next deal till it's almost done and the player is on their way up for a medical.

Not sure it's the best thing keeping him here this season. At this point in his development he needs games. Full, regular games. Not the odd 10/15 minute cameos from the bench.

Bored and this thread got me thinking. Anyone think of any other sides that have a 'traditional' away colour scheme. Perhaps they don't use it every season, but they always come back to it.
WBA above made think of this. More often or not they go green and yellow stripes for away. Man City keep returning to red and black stripes. Any others? Don't really feel like we have one? Always felt like blue was our unofficial third colour, but that's probably because that blue Asics away shirt is the first away shirt I properly remember/had.

Werner is a quicker German Morata!
Harsh on Morata. Werner's goal return in the PL makes Morata look like Haaland.

Bundesliga tax. The man who was going to relegate us in Weghorst the same. Probably a few more.
This. People tend to get blinded by how successful Bayern have been in the CL, but outside of Bayern, Dortmund and Leipzig, the Bundesliga is super weak at the moment.

I still think we will get two very good signings
Don’t know why , I just feel like the team in the background will ensure we strengthen regardless
Same. Ultimately think we will end up spending around £30m on a RW option, then someone line Broja on loan (with a view to buy next Summer).

Academy that just buys the players.
To be fair. Most of the top clubs academy's do that nowadays.

I know I’m not the only one in here but I’m desperate for some new, reliable rumours today.
I feel like ever since Ashworth came on board the ship has been tightened. No more business being done with us being able to follow along with every step. Feel like the next transfer we hear about it will already be at the 95% done mark before anything breaks.

I really think people with any eggs in the Paqueta basket are going to end up disappointed. It's a like that mainly exists because everyone just assumed, because he is Bruno's mate, he must be on his way.

For 13 million he is worth the gamble imo, especially if it's him or nobody.
I'd want to know what wages he'd be after. Imagine he is on quite a chunk at PSG.

I thought Broja had went to West Ham???
Seems like they have gone Scamacca instead of Broja, rather than as well as.

Linked with Harvey Barnes today, Leicester want 50 million, would be a brilliant signing.
Leicester have to sell before they can buy, so there is a deal to be done but can’t see us agreeing a fee, he is however one who I would break the bank for.
Surprised it's only this late into the Summer we have been linked with Barnes. He is a cracking player, and fits the profile of player we have been looking at perfectly.
Whilst I don't think it's shocking Leicester value him at 50m, I don't think we are spending that amount on one player (yet). If we could get it down to £40m I'd say it's a no brainer.

After West Ham’s Scamacca deal, I think we’ll see Broja here on loan now. Should then free up the budget for a big ticket rw.
Apparently Broja is only open to leaving on a permanent deal. Doesn't want another loan where he may potentially be in the same position next Summer. That being said, a loan with obligation to buy could work.

Isn't this how most teams pay transfer fees? I seem to remember people saying we were a bit of an outlier in the Ashley days in that, what fees we did pay, we insisted in paying in full up front.

That Nike template is awful, like. And seems to have bred a pile of equally stinking striped designs.
For all Castore appear to be out of their depth, I'm grateful we've got a decent home kit this season.
Honestly, whenever this Castore deal is up and (assuming things are going well) we have one of the big boys making our kits again, I am praying its Adidas rather than Nike. With Nike you either get the boring template if they don't consider you a big priority, or they give you some unique sort of abomination.

I also get we have one aye on FFP rules, but if we blew our load early on top players, meaning we have less to spend later on, we’d get to the levels we want to get to quicker and I’d rather we did that because we would then only need to add incrementally to the squad to keep sustaining and improving transfer window after transfer window.
The problem/scary thing with this part is, I imagine that's exactly what Everton told themselves while they were spunking cash on big names. It assumes every 'top player' you sign is going to hit.

How can they rate Harrison and not Scamacca?
They're two entirely different types of players.
And Scamacca represents more of a risk than Harrison. Sure, it goes well and £30m seems like a snip, but they'd be signing him off the back of one decent Serie A season. This isn't 90's Serie A either, where 15 goals in a season converted to 20+ in other leagues. Goals are much easier to come by in Serie A these days.
