Without knowing our back up targets to Diaby, Isaak etc. I would say Sarr at 20m-25m is a no brainer.

He's lightening fast with plenty of potential. His fee is reasonable, he can play anywhere across (he's best as a RW imo) and his numbers in the league are respectable given he's always played for a team at the bottom end of the league.

I have a sneaking feeling we will end up with one of him, Dennis, or Cornet by the end of the window.

Since Dan has come in all the journalists have been scratching their heads…

This does give me hope we will start operating in a similar way to Villa. Nothing rumoured, then all of a sudden a deal is announced, or at least comes out at a time where it's all but done.

Everton and Villa don't seem to give a flying fuck

Everton and Villa (though Everton have obviously still managed to fuck themselves) haven't had their commercial income effectively frozen for the past the 14 years the same we we had. It will take a little time to play catch up, thought that has already started. Doubt there's any other team in the league with a sleeve sponsor worth more than they're front of shirt sponsor. That will change from next season. We have none of the daft things in place other sides have. I imagine after the training ground revamp we will unveil a training ground sponsor, but there's loads more we will be lining up behind the scenes.

I also think we'd have wanted a loan to buy, to keep it within our 'budget'

I don't think it's necessarily a budget thing. I think they have their internal valuation of players, and Chelsea valued him past what we thought he was worth.

Have Barcelona been linked with bloody everybody this window? Fuck me.

Truly believe at this stage Barca are going to need La Liga and/or UEFA to decide they're too big to go bust in a couple years. Not sustainable at all what they're currently doing.

I'd be amazed if that's true. He doesn't fit our target profile at all.

Think it could depend on just how much the reduction on that January 35m asking price there has been. If he is now available at down around 20-25m he could be seen as a short term option for a couple seasons. By which point we will have a new main shirt sponsor & likely countless other new revenue streams, meaning hands won't be as tied by FFP limitations and spunking 50m+ on one player is something we can consider.

I'm not even sure it's that, I think that the club has its valuation of players and its reluctant to go too far over that.

Yep, they don't want to have their pants pulled down. It's not a good way to conduct business, and once you let one team do it, it makes dealing with other teams even more of a nightmare.

Just like big poppa pump Scott Steiner, he’s a genetic freak baby and it’s all natural

"You know they say that all men are created equal, but you look at me and you look at Miguel Almiron and you can see that statement is not true. See, normally if you go one on one with another winger you got a 50/50 chance of winning. But I'm a genetic freak and I'm not normal! So you got a 25%, AT BEST, at beat me. Then you add Ryan Fraser to the mix, your chances of starting drastic go down. See the game against Forest, you got a 33 1/3 chance of starting, but I, I got a 66 and 2/3 chance of starting, because Miguel Almiron KNOWS he can't beat me and he's not even gonna try!
So Ryan Fraser, you take your 33 1/3 chance, minus my 25% chance and you got an 8 1/3 chance of starting against Forest. But then you take my 75% chance of starting, if we was to go one on one, and then add 66 2/3 per cents, I got 141 2/3 chance of starting against Forest. See Ryan, the numbers don't lie, and they spell disaster for you at Newcastle."

    Adama Traore... probably

(I'd like to take this chance to apologise to anyone who read all that and has no clue what it's about)

  9. I think the CM area Howe has decided isn't an immediate priority. We know from various journos that, whilst keen to add quality, Howe didn't want to rock the ship too much by adding too many players in one go.

Botman has supposedly been the number 1 target since the consortium took over.

Targett is a good LB that also provides continuity with last season.

Pope may not be an obvious upgrade on Dubravka, but is way more comfortable acting as a sweeper keeper than Dubs. Important for the way Howe wants us playing.

Then feel like RW and backup striker are more important in the immediate future that CM. Have a feeling we may start the season with a 3 of Bruno, Joe, and Willock. Which means we have Shelvey and Longstaff (Sean) as backup. Not ideal, but when you are trying to be careful with both the budget and with how many players you want to add in one window, its something that can wait till next Summer. I also think we will see a drastic improvement from Willock this season.

PSG going after Ekitike, when Kalimuendo is similar age and outcomes in terms of goals per appearance ratio?

I know it's simplistic, but does seem odd to let one go and spend more to replace with something so similar.

Imagine if PSG are making a show of going after Ekitike purely to encourage business for Kalimuendo. Feel bad for the kid, but that agent would be taking an arse kicking from karma.

  11. Wonder who the backup is to Diaby. Feel like Leverkusen this window will be a little like Lille in Jan. They may play the hokey cokey a little, but they actually have no real desire or need to sell now.

Pope, Trippier, Targett, Botman, Bruno plus arguably Burn is half a new team bought within the first year. That's incredible and a million miles away from what we've had.

People need to chill the fuck out a bit and appreciate what's happening here. Not all positions can be fixed instantly, it's going to take a few years. Fucking greedy cunts man. Everything! Right now!

Totally agree with this. Feels like there are people, both in here and on Twitter, who seem determined to spoil what is the most fun couple of transfer windows we have had in more than 14 years.

    Isak, Hudson-odoi or Broja, Diaby?

think I’d go for the former.

Isak with Hudson-Odoi on loan with a buy option would be a tremendous way to wrap up the window.

Anyone remember the Arsenal fans going crazy in January because they saw a personalised number plate on a car and all thought they were signing Isak as a result? And now they’ve re-signed Nketiah, leaving Isak for us. They’re going to be very bitter if we get him….lol!

Look, I'm all for ruining Arsenal fans lives, but they did go out and sign Gabriel Jesus. I would murder a puppy to have him here.

Isak has played on the right 3 times his whole career. Why we suddenly trying to shoe horn him in there

Yep. This isn't Steve Bruce's Newcastle United anymore. We actually have a manager who plays players in the correct position. Think it's one of the reasons the club isn't as interested in Paqueta as the fans are.

I thought because of how little we'd spent over the past few years we have quite a lot of credit to play with, especially if we structure the deals right.

We do in theory, but until we start signing new sponsorship deals the number is still limited. Meaning the more we spend now the less we can spend in the future. Obviously the idea is we grow our commercial income rapidly, but until that actually starts to happen we'd basically taking a risk on money we hope/expect to make in the future. A side like Chelsea can budget knowing those commercial deals are in place, and how much they're going to make per season from them.

You can cheat a little with cleverly structured deals, but that relies on the selling team being happy with said structure as well.

If I could only go for one of Diaby or Isak right now I’d definitely go for Isak

I think I'm still the opposite. We don't get Isak than Wilson plays. We don't get Diaby they Fraser/Almiron play. I know you could argue Wilson will get injured, but still, the drop off between Diaby and Fraser/Almiron is huge.

£40m doesn't sound that much on 22 yr olds when you see Chelsea spending that much on a 31 yr old defender. Buy them both if they are available.

Whilst out owners may now have the ability to outspend Chelsea should they wish, we're still a million miles away from actually being able to do that without putting ourselves in an Everton style FFP hole pretty quickly we tried.

If we could get Diaby and Isak for 40 million each do people not think we'd sign them both? I'm convinced we would tbh.

Think you're probably right, think the issue would be with getting either at £40m.

  20. If we do spend big money on Isak I can see them essentially flipping the strategy. We all thought they'd spend big on a winger and loan (with potential to buy next summer) a striker. Just go the other route. Only issue being that likely rules out Diaby.
