  1. Wonder who the backup is to Diaby. Feel like Leverkusen this window will be a little like Lille in Jan. They may play the hokey cokey a little, but they actually have no real desire or need to sell now.
  2. Totally agree with this. Feels like there are people, both in here and on Twitter, who seem determined to spoil what is the most fun couple of transfer windows we have had in more than 14 years.
  3. Isak with Hudson-Odoi on loan with a buy option would be a tremendous way to wrap up the window.
  4. Look, I'm all for ruining Arsenal fans lives, but they did go out and sign Gabriel Jesus. I would murder a puppy to have him here.
  5. Interesting use of wording in Luke's last tweet there. "Thrashed out". Wonder if there is a split in strategy somewhere.
  6. Yep. This isn't Steve Bruce's Newcastle United anymore. We actually have a manager who plays players in the correct position. Think it's one of the reasons the club isn't as interested in Paqueta as the fans are.
  7. We do in theory, but until we start signing new sponsorship deals the number is still limited. Meaning the more we spend now the less we can spend in the future. Obviously the idea is we grow our commercial income rapidly, but until that actually starts to happen we'd basically taking a risk on money we hope/expect to make in the future. A side like Chelsea can budget knowing those commercial deals are in place, and how much they're going to make per season from them. You can cheat a little with cleverly structured deals, but that relies on the selling team being happy with said structure as well.
  8. I think I'm still the opposite. We don't get Isak than Wilson plays. We don't get Diaby they Fraser/Almiron play. I know you could argue Wilson will get injured, but still, the drop off between Diaby and Fraser/Almiron is huge.
  9. Whilst out owners may now have the ability to outspend Chelsea should they wish, we're still a million miles away from actually being able to do that without putting ourselves in an Everton style FFP hole pretty quickly we tried.
  10. Think you're probably right, think the issue would be with getting either at £40m.
  11. If we do spend big money on Isak I can see them essentially flipping the strategy. We all thought they'd spend big on a winger and loan (with potential to buy next summer) a striker. Just go the other route. Only issue being that likely rules out Diaby.
  12. Isak is certainly a big flashy name that would make a statement. Part of me worries that we'd signing someone who had a good breakout season, then struggled to replicate that the season after. 20/21 - 34 apps, 17 goals 21/22 - 32 apps, 6 goals
  13. There is a 0.001% chance of any team in the Championship stumping up that kind of money for Dwight Gayle. Like I said a few posts back, we will be lucky to get £1m.
  14. Distinct lack of those cringe 'TAKE CARE OF HIM' posts under that tweet....
  15. Even then that would be madness. Especially when you consider it would only have been Championship sides interested in him. Finances in the Championship (any level below PL really) are totally fucked. Would've been lucky to get close to £5m back then. Now I'd snap off the hand of anyone who gets close to £1m.
  16. I honestly think Ritchie stays at this point, and I am fine with that. He is clearly a player fully bought into the Eddie Howe way, and can often be seen directing players (same way Trippier would) while warming up. He is handy to have on the bench when you consider he can come on in a final 10 minutes in a variety of positions, and will clearly give his absolute all.
  17. Really don't understand how Sangare is still at PSV. Very affordable release clause, can't remember the exact number off the top of my head, but its in the £20-£25m range.
  18. The ship has certainly tightened since Ashworth came in. But that being said I do think we will be quiet for another week or two. Asses the squad we currently have, and see what develops the longer the window progresses. For example, if no one else comes in for Diaby in the coming couple weeks, & Leverkusen are more open to selling than they're currently letting on, £40m could suddenly seem much more reasonable to them a few weeks down the line than it does now.
  19. New Man Utd home shirt. Think its telling that it's pretty much the Arsenal template in a Man U flavour. No longer getting quite such special treatment from Adidas.
  20. The Ekitike deal was supposedly back loaded. Smaller amount upfront, with more paid over the duration of the contract. Also, don't think its a coincidence the Diaby talk picked back up once it became clear they were moving on from Ekitike.
  21. Diaby & Paqueta in this window would likely be an additional 100m on top of what we have already spent. They have made it clear that we're not going quite that big this Summer, unless they're about to announce some huge sponsorship deal. I personally think they'll spend another 40m on a wide forward (Diaby), then loan (with potential obligation to buy) a younger striker to understudy Wilson (a Broja type).
  22. Assuming we end up bringing in a right sided winger/forward, Fraser is a fantastic bench option. He is actually even better on the left than he is the right. Tore Brentford apart in the away fixture last season.
  23. 15m at the absolute max for Almiron.
  24. Certainly spending their money more intelligently that they did the last couple times they came up. Still time to get Kenny Omega in at right back.
