  1. ManU fans are used to winning while we are used to losing, so we are bound to be more nervous about Liverpool. Realistically, there are now only 3 clubs fighting for the 2 remaining CL places. ManU are as likely as us to have a poor sequence of results that could let Liverpool in. Beat Everton this evening and our odds will be 95%.
  2. Nedum Onuoha is very capable and obviously inyelligent. The less said about the likes of RioF, Schmeichel, Merson, Collymore and Agbonlahor the better.
  3. I suggest getting a bag of Spuds. Slice and dice them, fry them to death and douse them with oodles of vinegar.
  4. ....and one of my favourite players of our greatest era - Ronald Orr. My grandad thought Albert Stubbins was the best striker we ever had.
  5. Blyth Spartans beaten 1-0 away to a strong Alfreton team and, unfortunately, Farsley won. They now need to win their final match, which is at home to midtable Herford. 3 points is likely to be enough to escape the drop as Kettering are in freefall and away at playoff hopefalls Kidderminster, while Farsley would be overhauled on goal difference if they lose at Spennymoor.
  6. Beat the Waddle n Gazza thieves and it's more likely than not.
  7. You could say the same for Liverpool, ManU, Arsenal at a certain point in time. All four aces just fell into Man City's hand all together and at the same time at an opportune time and in recent living memory. Glad they busted through the cabal's padlocked door and only hope we do too as well as a few other clubs that were contenders many decades ago.
  8. ....and if Farsley and Spartans both win a game, Kettering could well be relegated in their stead.
  9. One more win would do it. Next up, Alfreton away. Would do well to get a point there.
  10. ManU aren't yet assured of a CL place. I suspect they'll end up with 72-74 points but, who knows, perhaps some dodgy referee/VAR decisions will go against them? There must be at least 30 in the cupboard to achieve that 'balance themselves out' theory this season.
  11. Defeat Spurs and we won't finish lower than 5th and will simultaneously end their chances of finishing above us. We must win.
  12. Mike Williamson had done a great job. Heed could well finish in the top half of the table now. Brilliant turn around in results, but that and goal difference suggests Gateshead were always better than being in a relegation battle.

    Alexander Isak

To the traditional Carribbean tune Brown Girl In The Ring (although pethaps some could take offence): Isak in the box (tralalalala) Isak in the box (tralalalalala) Isak in the box (ttalalalala) And he shoots and he scores with aplomb (plomb plomb)!
  14. Both clubs deserve promotion back to the FL and, if they do, I'd anticipate one or other to get another promotion in 2023-24.
  15. I'll be sorry to see Leicester relegated, but it looks highly likely now. There are some similarities to our 2008-09 relegation season; plummeting like a stone, little in the way of character or leadership, too many players half-arsed, a club with little cohesion and direction that has failed to plan ahead. I'll be sorry to see them go largely because Leicester's 2016 PL success was truly beautiful; it gave real hope of ultimate success to all underdogs, a perennial yoyo club winning the greatest prize against all the odds.
  16. A dull draw with Kane picking up a torn hamstring would do for me.
  17. I certainly despise ManU. I also have a strong dislike for Everton, Liverpool, Chelsea, Spurs, Sunderland, Villa, Arsenal and Stevenage. Something like in that order. The dislike for ManU is many faceted, but most of all down to the all-consuming promotion of that club. I'm in SEAsia now and ManU seems to compete with Pepsi and CocaCola in terms of inculcating the masses. ManU (along with Spurs), more than any other club, has been at the forefront of unwanted commercialism and money-grabbing that has perverted association football.
  18. Presently, we can finish anywhere from 3rd to 11th. Likelihood is we'll finish 4th to 7th. Stating the obvious, but if we defeat ManU, the resulting confidence, coupled with a busier fixture list for most of our rivals, would make a CL finish highly plausible. So let's screw the 'biggest football club in the world' and make a real statement of intent.
  19. Not sure if mentioned before, but just watched a C4 news story re the Tyne Bridge kittiwakes and learned Alex Thomson is a longstanding NUFC fan.
  20. I only want Everton to drop and Leicester to stay up. No strong feelings on the others, really, but would choose West Ham and Palace to go down too.
  21. If not us, I'd rather it was Brighton to finish 4th than the other contenders. Still want Leeds to win, though.
  22. Are you doubting the BBC's impartiality rules?

    St James' Park

Agree with all you've written here.
  24. Yes. If I were an investor worth multiple billions of pounds/dollars/euros, and had no particular club affiliation (which very few, if any, have), I'd choose to buy a long underperforming club with a past pedigree and large and passionate supporter base. A club that has the potential to compete at the very top and, if not for the advent of the PL and the nouveau "elite" clubs, could have reached the peak a decade or two ago; eg. one of the Sheffield clubs or, cough, Sunderland.
