I was at the recent Morecambe v Portsmouth match, I'll be surprised if the mackems don't beat them. Shrimps were pretty bad. Play-offs won't be easy for them though, that's a fact.

Nobody knows what the future holds, but it's certainly better to be in this hopeful position than the complete dead end scenario we had at the start of the season. @WillDanceForChocolate - Many thanks for the very insightful read. If we're being honest here Steve, you're a bungling fuckwit that turned everything and everyone to shit.

But that wasn't what Ashley was ever about. I know he appeared to be 'one of the lads' at first, but he was a well-stuffed suit that hoovered cash like no tomorrow. His brand vandalism of the stadium and everything else was testament to that.

And that's the thing, it was always so easy to create this inspirational atmosphere. Sure, results help - and that's not easy to achieve at all. But there's quick wins that the club can do - and has now done - to get everyone singing from the same page. These behind-the-scenes glimpses of joy are part of that. The previous regime simply didn't give a shit - so long as cash rolled in from fans, TV and sponsors, that's all that ever mattered. They just didn't want to go that extra step. With a few exceptions, the managers towed that line too. It poisoned everything, and we're still recovering. Remember the 'we only want a club that tries' banner? We've got that now, with the added bonus of belief and confidence. Carry this on to next season, with shrewd additions, and who knows where we'll be? Bring it on!

Nah, can't see us winning this one (astonishing if we do though). If it is a defeat, hope it's a narrow one that scares the shite out of them.
