Newcastle United 3-3 Manchester City (21/08/2022)
Billy Warthog replied to Yorkie's topic in Football
Need to wrestle the attacking spirit back like we did in the first half. Question is, can we? Do we need to make a change or two? EDIT - not quite what I had in mind... -

Agh... poor one to concede. Never mind, it is what it is... keep stepping up. We know we can fight back again. -

Whatever happens now, this team has shown real metal. Far better than anything that's gone before in recent seasons. -

Christ, can we keep going for one more half...! Utterly brilliant response from that first goal we conceded all season. PLEASE see this out! -

Is this real life? -
I saw one home game last season too... against Palace! Here's hoping for another Miggy winner.
-
Surprised that I managed to get a ticket for the Palace home game a full two hours after they were released on general sale... thought I'd missed my chance! Probably the only home game I'll see this season.

Newcastle United vs. Manchester City - 21/8/22 @ 4:30pm (Sky Sports)

1 - Heavy defeat (three goals or more) - depressing, but not unexpected. 2 - Narrow defeat - can take some positives. 3 - Draw - great performance, can build on it. 4 - Win - astonishing... where is this season going?! (Bonus - keep a clean sheet - amazing!) Think the second option is the more likely, but obviously hope either 3 or 4 happens! -
Brighton vs. Newcastle United: 13/08/22 @ 3PM (No UK TV)
Billy Warthog replied to 54's topic in Football
If we win here then this could be the start of an even better season than I was expecting. It could be a draw / narrow loss though, which wouldn't be too deflating for me. The performance will speak volumes against a well-drilled Brighton side. Would be there if it wasn't for work... -
I've gone 8th, as I think we'll have a few games we ought to win but end up with a draw / narrow loss instead. Throw the odd unexpected victory in there too, as well as the predictable losses. Top 10 will suit me fine though. Anything higher than 8th will be remarkable.

Good start... scoring early will be rather nice. -

Well, some of them sound like gibbering fuckwits... I'm all for positivity but they're taking the piss. Quite confident of a NUFC win. I guess there's always the doubt in our minds after years of dross, but this feels different. We now have reasons to believe. And even if there is an upset this Saturday, our season won't be defined by it. NUFC 3 - 1 NFFC. -

We were at least competitive in the Euros, and the World Cup before that. That's not something I've seen since 1996. It may be that we're not quite there yet, but I can't go along with just getting rid of him. I think he's earned the right to have a go at the next World Cup. I can't say I'm really bothered about the Nations League... just not massively invested in it. I'm more interested in the Solihull v Grimsby play-off final!

Burnley vs. Newcastle United: 22/05/22 @ 4pm (No UK TV)
Billy Warthog replied to Decky's topic in Football
Only 25 days after today before next season's fixtures are released... about 54 days after that until the first game. It'll fly by! -
Mackems the better side, clearly. But they need to seriously prepare for the Championship next season and not do it on the cheap, or they'll be out of the PL for another few seasons yet.
-
If it stays 1-0 at half time, I think Wycombe will come back into it. Right now, they're well off the pace.
-
I've been watching all the play-off games, it's like an on-going story. I'll watch this one too, but I'm mostly indifferent to the result. If they go up... meh. They'll probably get battered more often than not next season. If they stay down... lol. Not a huge lol, but a lol none the less. Meanwhile, the real story - NUFC - can continue unabridged. The fixture releases, the signings etc... roll on August!

I don't see any reason why we can't win here. Yes, Burnley will be fighting for their lives, but I think that'll be their undoing - if we score first, I think they'll fold. If they score first, they'll spend the rest of the game parking the bus. Either way, I think it'll work for us. 3-1 NUFC, similar to the Norwich game. But of course, this is still NUFC we're talking about here! -
