Infrastructure interest payments aren’t excluded from PSR - and the interest on £1bn is sizeable.
-
Not for me - we didn’t talk about being ‘no.1’. Besides, football clubs’ value has went up exponentially with serious investment. I also don’t see why a football stadium built on Leazes Park would cost £2bn in any case - if we were using Saudi subbies I possibly could, but the UK isn’t anything like as bent.

Sorry mate I re-read - I see what you were saying. Completely agree - if we’re to be owned by the dredges of humanity, then the trade-off was meant to be that they’d fund it. But once again, I remain completely unconvinced by the ‘if it wasn’t for PSR they’d have chucked loads at us’. I don’t think they would have. Faustian pacts are a right twat.

Our ‘soul’ was sold long ago - SJP isn’t our ‘soul’.

You’d think that as a club we’d laugh at the notion that a player who started their career in a position which wasn’t centre forward won’t have the instincts of a centre forward. I mean, we named our main stand after one bloke who got switched from the wing to centre forward because of unforeseen circumstances.
-
Not allowed - it means zero killer instinct. Unlike Kane, who had scored (checks notes) scored 3 top flight goals by the age of 22.
-
Didn’t score goals in a minor European league though, so he can’t be one

Rooney ‘didn’t love being a 9’? The lad had played there since primary school. You’re talking about one of the finest centre forwards of the last few decades. Ekitike and Isak look less like centre forwards than Rooney. Deep lying centre forwards have existed since Hidegkuti. A no.9 who drops deep is older than pretty much everyone on this site. The idea that Woltemade doesn’t know the role is beyond ridiculous.

I don’t think we bought Wissa to play LW tbh - I think he won’t play them together. Time will tell.
-
Or his career hits the skids, the next manager doesn’t fancy him, and in a couple of years he finds himself playing in Turkey
-
It should be an example where the lad should be sacking his agent and advisors right now, even if Man Utd was his preference. Lad made a terrible decision.

Looks pretty shite a record to me tbh Feels something close to a ‘need to win’ to me. -
Which is completely fair I think. I thought the lad looked a lot more composed, but you could well be right that the formation switch protected some of his vulnerabilities better. I do think though that he looked more comfortable on the ball - against Liverpool it was like watching Bramble reborn.
-
That is his best - when he’s playing to his strengths and he’s on-form. He isn’t as good a winger as Jacob Murphy tbh.
-
Looked good to me when he came on
-
He was playing as a LW when he scored, so hopefully that will be reflected on by the manager Definitely - his confidence in interviews looks miles ahead of his confidence with the ball at his feet. He looked like he was wearing roller skates a few times tonight - looked terrified of trying to control the ball
-
I thought Tonali didn’t exactly pull up trees tbf - he didn’t look at the level either. Doesn’t mean he isn’t, but that wasn’t a great showing.
-
Barnes is a decent PL footballer, but with a full team out he’s a bench player for games like this. Lad doesn’t look at his best atm though.
-
We need pretty much all of our best players fit and on form to have a chance of beating the top sides, and we don’t, so I just think we suck it up and move on quickly. I don’t ever want to see Gordon at CF again, mind - it just doesn’t work against any opposition, never mind Barca.
-
Gan on then, I’ll quote myself

Not sure what BDB did there - thanks shit TV crew

Standard fussy European ref is going to frustrate us here
