  1. He also didn’t score in his last nine PL games for us. Teams had worked out how to defend against him. KK sold him at exactly the right moment - the issue with selling Cole was not replacing him until the summer
  2. It isn’t altruism, then. It’s self-serving. That’s not to say what you’ve described can’t be a communal good - but it is the perfect encapsulation of why charity at its core is at best capitalism playing pretend at having a conscience. It is there to make the giver feel good - to salve their soul - yet many of those ‘giving’ will happily vote in low-taxation govts to better suit their bottom line at the expense of others.
  3. They’re not the same player, and I doubt if both signed they’d be expected to do the same thing
  4. Who we replaced with Ferdinand and Shearer. Despite the trophies (hard to fail in that team), Cole never looked as lethal in a red top
  5. 100% - that was the point which raised my eyebrow, but I didn’t bother to raise owt further. The idea that ‘everyone votes in the own self-interest’ is plainly untrue - the working class certainly doesn’t in the numbers which would prevent the abuses meted out
  6. Scott McTominay is a good player. I had to go home to get a book to prove it. They went, "Oh, yeah, you're right. Well done. You've won. Sorry".
  7. Yeah I like those bits. I especially like learning about how little you all know about football based upon a difference of opinion of a player’s talents
  8. True. Maybe £40m for arguments is overpaying.
  9. I think I want us to sign him just for the arguments now
  10. Love Howe, but when it comes to anything like that he can be a right lying bastard, wor Eddie
  11. It brings the integrity of the sport into question - so it isn’t light at all. Of course the bans for racist abuse should be exponentially longer, completely agree there
  12. Joelinton hasn’t shagged anyone except Mrs Joelinton
  13. It’s well ladge to be doing that in the marital bed as well mind. Wife and bairns picture on the wall. Doesn’t speak well of the lass taking the photo either. Again, based on this actually being true.
  14. I don’t need to like the footballers who play for us (and if he’s done what is being alleged here it’s a cunt’s trick tbf). He tends to come across as a hardworking athlete but not exactly a deep thinker, so I wouldn’t exactly be shocked if it were true. I don’t really give a shite though. I don’t know the man, so what he gets up to doesn’t arse me particularly (provided it doesn’t impact his performances in B&W).
  15. I mean, he probably won those bets vs us, but I’ve got even less sympathy than I had before. He’s a lucky young man only getting eight months tbh.
  16. The owners do. Doesn’t mean they can, will (or want) to spend it.
  17. Yep, I'm with you. It is the Rees-Mogg 'foodbanks make me proud to be British' shite. Get to fuck, you Tory bastards.
  18. I'll chuck my two-penneth worth in. Botman was drawn to the ball and left unnecessary space behind him. Burn just played the lad on but pushing the blame onto him is extremely harsh. Tbf all of our defence has been guilty of this over the last couple of months - it is almost as if none of them are aware that there is no pace in the back line to mop up if one of them is caught out. Would love to see a LB and a RCB with some pace come in.
  19. I’d re-read the NO thread. It wasn’t obvious to most. McTominay would also not be backup. He’d be direct competition
  20. Sorry for double-post; obviously someone like Rice would be ideal. But we’re not likely to be shopping in that market this summer. The squad needs bulking with quality - I’m happy to be wrong, but we’re still two or three summers away from spunking the budget on one player
  21. It’s almost as if everyone has forgotten the ‘why would we sign Pope when we have Dubravka’ argument. If he signs, he’s Eddie’s choice and clearly we need another similar player to play the Longstaff does. They’d be direct competition for one another should he sign. If the lad signs, I think Howe has completely earned the right to sign who he thinks fits best.
  22. And that included stadium naming rights. PIF and Sela are right daft twats
  23. Probably because they’re not as keen as chucking the same amount of money at it. KSA isn’t a petty city-state with a tiny population and a colossal amount of oil per capita. It’s a country - and while it is a dictatorship and will chuck money around, it would still be an investment and not a loss-making vanity exercise.
  24. Yep, that’s going to be very difficult to stand up in a tribunal. Correlation still wouldn’t mean causation in that regard.
  25. They’ve entered the ‘denial’ phase
