‘Premier Pashuns’ was great mind. Love how the Mackems like to record their failures for a wider audience. Would rather we didn’t have the cameras in, though. Mackem laughs only for me.

Chelsea vs. Newcastle United: 28/05/23 @ 16:30 (No UK TV)

We need this rabble to get a result vs Man Utd to make this game even have a purpose. I doubt they will though, so this will be the deadest of dead rubbers. I’m inclined to go for 0-0, but I’ll go 1-1. I doubt any of the players who’ve been playing through the pain barrier will get minutes. I’d love to close with a win though. These will likely turn things around a bit next season, so this represents a chance for a rare win there. -
No issue re Squires’ cartoon. I still find calling this ‘sportswashing’ odd, mind. If KSA wanted to use this to change the image of KSA they haven’t done a good job. More people in the UK for starters will be aware of the terrible human rights record of the KSA govt than they were beforehand.

Yeah I agree. He’ll be at Spurs for the foreseeable. It’s the most boring annual transfer story going. He’ll sign a short extension and will until he gets the PL record then bugger off abroad for a final big payday and a few tin pots

What will eat them up most - if this type of introspection is available to them - is that during their ‘6 in a rur’ phase we were being fucking hobbled by a parasitic owner. Look at what we look like one full season after his departure. Yet at the same time, they had a sugar daddy owner who went on to spunk over £100m down the drain on them in a desperate attempt to make into a solid PL club. They need NUFC to be having a shit time and them to be at the most they can be in order to ‘compete’. So they can ask questions like ‘what would we look like if we reached our potential?’, as if it hasn’t already been answered.

The Europeometer™ (2024/25) - NUFC Qualify for Champions League

Sorry to hear about your loss, though that’s great on the sobriety ? Despite my handle on here, I’m now almost exactly five and a half years alcohol and tabs free -
Hard to tell, as a football club’s value bears little relation to its income. Man Utd’s income was four times ours when we were bought - but if they’re sold they’ll go for around seventeen or eighteen times what we did. I suspect the club is worth roughly double the £350m they paid already, though.

We did it in Kiev. Amazing what local brew vodka can do for perceived body temperature -

93/94 was the best of the Keegan era for me, 01/02 Robson’s, and this is pretty much up there. Would still go for 93/94 given two years earlier we were nearly relegated to the third division and possible bankruptcy, and no-one who wasn’t Stevie Charlton’s age had ever seen a finish that high. This season is right up there, but many of us have seen this before - doesn’t make it any less great, but just slightly shaves a tiny bit of edge off. So it might be my second favourite -
The big difference from 97-98 and 02-03 is the relative strength of the PL compared to the rest of Europe - in 97/98 English football wasn’t great, in 02/03 it was improving - but this time we’ve qualified from Europe’s strongest top division, so bizarrely we are a decent outside bet. To put it another way - Inter’s side of the draw contained Spurs, AC Milan, Club Brugge, Napoli, Porto, Benfica, and Eintracht Frankfurt. Based upon current form (not pedigree) Napoli are the only side that I wouldn’t have made us favourites against this season.
-
I think it’s far more likely to be the latter - something like £100m+ anything brought in. I’d also be happy with top eight finish being the target + having a go in the cups. Even with CL qualification, it’s going to take another three or four years for the big sponsorships and shirt deals etc to start rolling in, based on FFP and other PL bullshit.

Nah, I like it In my time supporting NUFC, I’ve seen us finish in every position in the top division other than 1st (of course), 9th and 19th. Mags my dad’s age would have seen us finish 9th and 19th. And anyone who has seen us finish 1st is a supercentenarian at this point -

My uncle, who was a home and away regular for decades and with whom I often used to travel to away days, died shortly after another unnecessary Ashley-led relegation in 2016. No doubt there will be countless others with similar stories - I was thinking of him this morning. -
I really hope he was watching. Look at what you could have won, you fat kernt (sorry to those thinking he’s carked it)

The one-way Feyenoord love-in did produce hilarious results with a Mackem stood next to the away end at De Kuip Bellamy’s last-gasp winner must have made that journey back to Mackem land a happy one
