  1. The 2023 form is that of a team finishing around 6/7th in terms of win %, PPG and GD. That’s pretty damn good, and I would view finishing 6/7th as a first class achievement considering that a cup run was also had. I realise we can finish higher, but 6/7th is European football.
  2. Millwall are dropping like a stone mind. I don’t think they’ll be in the playoffs at the end of the season. I fancy WBA to finish 5th - the Mackems have the same chance as Coventry, Blackburn etc
  3. Yep. Him and his thick pals wanted to fly a banner over the SOS when they were relegated - because being as small-time as the Mackems is important. So he would have been called out on that for starters - but it also happened to be what was likely to be young Bradley’s last game, so this also heightened the sense that it wasn’t just stupid but in seriously poor taste too. After asking anyone who questioned his doing this on social media with the usual Curry questions (what do you do for a living? Don’t I know your [name of family member]? Would you like to meet me for a ‘drink’?) or his usual statements of being a non-fan (haven’t seen you at an away game), he changed the banner from being stupid and in poor taste to a one which was stupid and in poor taste which mentioned cancer. The man is a fucking buffoon.
  4. Agreed. This was at its worst in the ‘90s. There is a completely incorrect notion that somehow the average football fans dislike for Chelsea etc somehow gets turned off because they’re playing some forrins.
  5. If you’re already a cunt, you never want to be one where an adjective can be added which describes the type of cunt that you are. Humphrey is a pretentious cunt, which on a graded scale of cuntitude is pretty much the worst you can be if you haven’t committed a serious criminal offence.
  6. It’s an interesting little spread (I think anyway) - if you take it from when the playoffs changed to second division only in 88-89, the winners finished as follows: 3rd: 12 times 4th: 7 times 5th: 8 times 6th: 7 times As expected, 3rd is the most common finish for the winners … but. It is skewed slightly by a period of sustained success by 3rd placed sides around 2010, when they won 5 out of 7. Before that run, 6th was the most common position for the winners(!) - but 6th placed teams haven’t won it since. Other than that short period, it’s a complete lottery. Here are the last 10 years: 5th; 4th; 3rd; 4th; 5th; 3rd; 5th; 4th; 3rd; 4th Never the same two years in a row.
  7. I wouldn’t expect them to last more than a season in the PL, but I think they’ve got a really good chance in the playoffs if they qualify. I don’t think the second division is any worse than most years tbf - a really good Burnley side is romping home, but Sheff Utd, Luton, the smoggies etc look decent enough. Plenty wrote off the Brentfords and Bournemouths in recent seasons. The playoffs are a crapshoot, and they are often won by a team hitting form late on and gate crashing the party late in the day.
  8. Yeah, I certainly have much more time for NUST than the other lot. There’s clearly good people involved with NUST - but the tf brigade have completely hijacked it. Shame, really.
  9. Some of it just looks like what the official NUFC travel club used to do (I never went with them after the late ‘90s - the ‘sarnie squad’ - not sure if it even still exists). Pay a few quid for a membership then join Curry and pals on a drinking boat for Brentford away. No issue there - you pays your money etc. Him and his pals are right to be critical of NUST and its incestuous relationship to tf - but they’re hardly a suitable replacement.
  10. I still think West Brom will do it - though that doesn’t mean that the Mackems won’t. I think Millwall could well drop out of it as well as Blackburn.
  11. It all almost makes me want to join Twitter. I won’t like, but I appreciate those who share this madness on here.
  12. ‘Can I ask you what you do for a living Dan’? Is another stock in trade of his. I just hope ginger baaaals doesn’t tell him that scaffolding isn’t a trade - that usually tips him over the edge
  13. Given who is behind it, ‘Supporters’ as a proper noun will be those he recognises from away games. Those who he doesn’t are ‘supporters’
  14. Robocop playing number 5 though. Could work well with Botman
  15. I agree with you - but I get the distinct impression the PL money men don’t
  16. I’m struggling to see the Cordone comparison tbf - completely different players, ages and price tags
  17. The reverse was true in the ‘90s - it’s less a cultural difference, and more a financial one. There’s a lot more money in English football today, so the financial risk of a bad signing is greater. This was also the case in the ‘90s when the money league was Serie A.
  18. Gave the ball away for the third today by trying a daft dribble
  19. He hasn’t had the squad options that Guardiola has had since day one of his managerial career.
  20. He’s young and raw. The price tag is for others to worry about. He’s been bought with the next decade in mind, potentially. A poor performance in the middle of a poor team performance doesn’t need undue criticism
  21. Poor performance all-round - players and staff. Sometimes these days happen. Somehow I tend to feel better when it’s down to performances like this rather than fine margins or individual errors. It was a collective off-day. Roll on next week
  22. ‘Why is my trolling being met with those sort of replies? I just don’t get it’
  23. This type of stuff is just fucking weird. It really is.
