  1. I don’t necessarily think that’s what is driving a move. Both player and club may judge it’s for the best. Howe might think that he has the opportunity now to really bed Livramento in - and an ageing Trippier has one last crack at a big trophy. Plus we bring some money in. Happy to be wrong on the above, but I doubt any sale would be ‘FFP-driven’. We’d only get a tiny FFP profit on Trippier. edit: again, to be clear I don’t want Trippier to go. But I’ll back Howe 100% on what he wants to do with the squad - and Trippier will always be a top player and gadgie in my mind now whatever happens
  2. Also, it looks like I might be the only one non-plussed by MGW. Just looks like a good PL attacking midfielder to me.
  3. £25m plus a shitload of add-ons tbf. Not sure how those add-ons get reached though.
  4. Yes, absolutely. Would make the season a success as far as I’m concerned. If Villa win it, they’ll make around the same as we did in Europe this season - with a trophy and UEFA Cup qualification to boot. Plus our club’s coefficients would be boosted. Not sure why any football fan worthy of that title wouldn’t want their club to qualify for European competition. If people don’t want the club to qualify - which is the entire point of the league (other than winning it), perhaps they should take up a different hobby.
  5. Sort of. We need to make an FFP ‘profit’ this season otherwise we’re in breach. So next season we can run a loss again (if we choose to do so).
  6. 8th is still something to aim for. The club should be trying to finish as high as they can. 8th would have been a decent finish at the start of the season for me - and there still remains the chance that this could be the best season in my lifetime if we actually won the cup
  7. We’re not locked in for X years if you use PIF-affiliated companies to do the deals with them. Whack them in at 20% of the value of the Man Utd deals on one- or two-year contracts - which would likely be enough to pass the ‘FMV’ shite that the PL has, and most would likely be under the related party transactions threshold.
  8. We aren’t, but that’s more to do with valuation of the deals rather than the deals themselves.
  9. I get it to an extent. I wouldn’t want to see the town moor replaced with a bunch of Barrett homes. But the tactics of ‘Friends of Leazes Park’ and that daft bint who led them was underhand. Canvassing for signatures in Sunderland was the lowest. The pro- move side had far more signatures (over 100k from memory) before John Hall pulled the plug. And there was very little hand-wringing from the support at the time. People seem a lot more attached to SJP than they did in the mid-90s.
  10. Why keep bidding for an uninterested player?
  11. I’m not praising the UK govt, I am though saying that it is less shit than an atavistic theocratically-driven dictatorship
  12. I’m with you on that mate - but honestly, the UK govt being morally and ethically bereft isn’t the same as a country which has pretty recently executed people by means of beheading for the ‘crime’ of witchcraft and sorcery. Cosplaying as Harry Potter is a capital punishment over there …
  13. Worst thing is having read all the complaints about it I’m off to listen to it for the first time in yonks as a result
  14. We definitely got robbed on ASM. All those clubs queuing up to give us more for a player we were happy to lose. They were all desperate to give us more, but we accepted the lower offer. I think.
  15. He’ll monetise the cunts at some point
  16. Ah, so he’s ’pro-noun’. That’s a positive; he seems to be anti- everything else
  17. Hang on, I thought it was the wimmin and the ‘trannies’ we were after Joey? Now it’s all the non-whites too? So a white male ex-pro knows more about the game than a black male ex-pro? Who could be next on the agenda??? (and how long it will take to get to the Jews?) edit: didn’t see the Islamphobic ones underneath. The cocaine to antisemitism’s heroin. He’ll get through all the racist drugs eventually.
  18. ‘Ho ho ho Captain Waffles’ The irony of Caulkin going on about Waugh being a football nerd, when reading his soppy sub-par fanzine writing is akin to being smothered in a wet blanket.
  19. Zero time for moral relativism. Anyone who seriously thinks that a country which executes people for thinking that their govt is shite is the same as one where the govt is shite but they can vote them out isn’t serious. I’m aware of all the issues in the UK. I’m a democratic socialist, I hardly agree with what has been going on. But to compare that to a brutal dictatorship is an insult to those who are oppressed by one. edit: you’d literally shit your pants if you lived in KSA. Not a single thing you’ve written about the UK govt could you have written across there without fear of arrest, potentially with execution at the end of it.
  20. KSA isn’t a free country and it doesn’t function as one. It’s a dictatorship. It wouldn’t exactly be a stretch to say that Al-Shabab would be under the influence of the govt - and regardless of the shite that the PL eventually accepted, the PIF is a govt kitty ran by the effective HoS
  21. MAIL EXCLUSIVE: Margot Robbie REJECTS threesome with Shearergol and Michelle Keegan. Keegan understood to be interested. Swap deal for Robbie possible.
