I’m not a great sentimentalist when it comes to players being transferred in and out - it’s the nature of the game. I’m aware that I do have a Pedro Corinthian figure as my avatar mind I’m happy to retain good players, but it should be the manager’s choice. As long as any sale is done in the manager’s judgement for the best of the club then I’ve no issue - no player is ‘unsellable’ for me
-
Yes, Almiron’s fee has been fully amortised. It’s as if he’s an academy product.
-
Honestly, I didn’t see anyone happy at the prospect of him going
-
I doubt Barton understands why Rule, Britannia! is a ‘bit iffy’, for starters he’d have to understand that the song is a commandment from God rather than a patriotic ditty. It’s an exhortation to literally rule the seas, an ode to imperial ambition. And it isn’t ’immigrants and refugees’ that have an issue with it. I have an issue with it, and so do plenty of other ‘native’ Brits. Can’t copy and paste that from the ‘online dictionary of clever sounding quotes’ though. Requires actual knowledge, something Barton lacks

The Vermont’s manager been talking again I see
-
Played well vs PSG, was poor vs Milan, didn’t look any better than Longstaff when he came on vs Dortmund, and that was it. Not sure he would have been the difference between qualifying or not.
-
I thought he wasn’t particularly great after the Villa came tbh - don’t think I’m misremembering. Honestly didn’t think he added more than Longstaff in the games he played. That doesn’t mean he doesn’t have a much higher ‘ceiling’ than Longstaff, of course. But he looked a long way from great when I watched him.

Good, hopefully Trippier is staying for the duration. I can’t imagine anyone wanted him gone.
-
Hope so. I’m not confident re that.
-
I can see I wasn’t clear, apologies - it doesn’t matter what we pay Atlanta; whatever fee we retain is 100% profit for FFP.
-
Doesn’t matter at all if Atlanta has a sell-on clause or a % of the sale. The fee is what counts for FFP. I doubt the owners are arsed about paying Atlanta
-
He won’t be worth what we paid when he returns
-
In a heartbeat. No-one would though.
-
That’s true. Though I suspect owld ‘N Joy’ was serious until PSG stepped in
-
That’s fair enough like. I wouldn’t sell at this point either.
-
Trippier and his agent may have a very different opinion from what they appear to be telling all and sundry. I doubt Bayern would be bidding for a disinterested player.
-
I don’t think it’s FFP driving this at all. A few million in FFP ‘profit’ isn’t likely needed.
-
Wouldn’t be difficult for his agent to let Bayern know this I would think. They would stop bidding then. Remiss of Trippier and his agent not to do so.
-
Well now I know where I’m not having my next coke and hookers one-man party. The Vermont. The innkeeper’s a grass.
-
That’s ok - we hate them too. Scabs.
-
They may be in FFP trouble this season too. We don’t yet know what the ‘double dip’ punishment is liable to be. I don’t think the Wood deal can be restructured to fix FFP
-
Dead easy then. NUFC reject the bids, nowt happens. For some reason Bayern has it in their head that he might join. Also, aren’t signing-on fees nice?
-
Imagine if we’d still had Jonjo in midfield next to him

Don’t recollect Barton ever coming across as particularly left wing. He was knocking about with Morrissey when he tried posturing at intellectualism, which would be a red flag to most about where his politics were. Old Mozza is a far right buffoon (shame as I still love The Smiths) Brand was always a nihilistic arse also playing at politics
-
It would be more about financial flexibility I would assume - I don’t think the current owners would be bothered about a couple of million in actual profits on players. It’s more the accounting flexibility within the confines of FFP. But if we are selling Almiron, I doubt we have any concerns on that front.
