  1. And Wheyse Keyse Lewise has an agenda of her own. That doesn’t mean that it isn’t a reasonable question to ask.
  2. Is it a completely unreasonable question to ask with 15 first teamers out injured of the style of play is a factor? I still think we’re paying a price for a lack of rotation at the start of the season. The problem with the article for me is more the implication that Howe only knows one way to play. I think he’s much smarter than that - he’ll find solutions and I’m pretty sure that our style will evolve as the squad evolves.
  3. I just watched it too - I just find it all tiresome. Culture war shite. Barton’s a fucking idiot, and he can’t disguise it - Piers Moron reads out his tweets and Barton thinks that being abusive is basically the entire point of social media as that’s how you start debates. It’s mind-meltingly dull. And you know what, I can agree with the odd thing - there simply isn’t the same pressure levels in the men’s and women’s games at the moment; that comes from crowd sizes & intensity, as well as the vast sums of money involved. So if the discussion is around handling pressure at that level, that is a place where journalists, fans and female ex-players cannot have a lived experience (though the female ex-players will have a far better grasp than me) - what else though? Sorry, don’t buy that a woman can’t understand football in the same way as any man. All this stuff is just a distraction. Barton going on as if punditry is important on any level whatsoever - it’s almost all shite, and this has pretty much been the case forever. Jimmy Hill knew more about football than most of us ever could, but fuck me I don’t know anyone who wouldn’t have happily seen him booted off TV screens. Punditry may be the least important thing in the universe. The likes of Barton should just do what i do - turn the football on a minute before kick off, do other stuff at half time, and switch it off after the final whistle.
  4. For quite a time we played on the full slope - we were notorious for it My original post wasn’t well worded - it reads like I’m saying that there is still a 10m slope on the pitch, when I just meant the site
  5. Wilson as is good as it gets without being elite level - he’s a first class PL goal scorer. We’ve two players for one position - to me, you’d want to get a young up and coming forward in as back-up, but an established star would likely eat up the entire budget
  6. Can’t see us spending what would be pretty much our budget to bring in Osimhen for a position where we have two quality players already
  7. He played far more games for Man City, who are these days a far more high profile club - they should say ‘former Man City midfielder Joey Barton’ and allow us to forget the cunt.
  8. Joey Barton is the only one to ‘stand up to Ashley’ where I was actually on Ashley’s side. Barton was sent to prison and Ashley didn’t think that the club should be paying him full salary. I don’t, either.
  9. Besides, wouldn’t Kraft be ahead of Dummett at centre half for Howe?
  10. While there is a skill to it, it does often result from poor positioning in the first place. Woodgate was the classic example of this - he rarely went to ground, as he was adept at reading the game
  11. The newsagent who gave the wrong change is a Mag. The train driver who made them five mins late for work is a Mag. The kid in McDonalds who gave them a sausage McMuffin instead of a sausage egg McMuffin is a Mag. Every fucker who mildly inconveniences the daft cunts is a mag. If I’ve learned anything from that lot, it’s how the Gestapo managed to get so many people ratting on their neighbours. Paranoid, petty little twats.
  12. With my old ST seat I used to get displaced for FA Cup games due to the increased away contingent. Nothing new in that. If the daft cunt who put this up had ever seen a full SOS for a cup tie, he’d understand that this is perfectly normal. Also, you don’t have a divine right to your ‘own’ seat.
  13. The pitch was corrected many moons ago. But there is still a slope. But the ground itself is on a huge slope - which is why the Gallowgate looks far bigger from the outside than it is on the inside. So we can see that building a stadium on a slope isn’t an insurmountable problem.
  14. Same. He doesn’t strike me as someone who spends his days troubled with complicated thoughts, but I get the impression he’s a nice enough bloke.
  15. The ‘it’s on a slope’ line is my favourite. The SJP pitch itself is sloping, there’s something like a 10 metre drop from the Leazes to the Gallowgate. Photos of the old Gallowgate make it easy to see: (also, this is what the Gallowgate looked like until 1994-95 - which is why plenty of us don’t get overly misty-eyed over the idea of leaving SJP. We don’t play in the same ground as we did a few decades ago)
  16. I do sometimes wonder when football fans question whether or not the goalkeeper position is less important to strengthen than other positions. Other than your centre forward, there is no other position that needs quality to be successful more than GK. I wouldn’t be signing a defensive midfielder or a winger ahead of a goalkeeper if we’re not good enough in that position.
  17. I’m the other way - female commentators haven’t really arsed me one bit. I haven’t heard a female co-commentator I’ve liked. I haven’t heard a male one I’ve liked either, though. So there is that.
  18. Man Utd rested a few few too, mind
  19. It was irritating me earlier, this one. Normally you get a good sense of when players are due back - it’s like the black hole of Calcutta our injury list
  20. Isak is the only player we have who has the potential to be world class - he’d also command the biggest transfer fee if he left. Trippier isn’t on a par with Isak.
  21. No, he was a problem, not the problem. He was shaky and could have done much better on at least two of the goals. It hasn’t changed my opinion - he’s an ok PL keeper - a bottom six keeper. Which isn’t bad at all for your reserve keeper - but that’s on the basis of him coming in for a few games. The rest of the season may be too much to risk on him - and I don’t get the impression that Howe fancies him, either. I can easily see another keeper coming in shortly.
  22. I can’t be angry about these sort of losses given the wider context - and Trippier hardly does that every week, so it’s hard to give the bloke shite over it. Dubravka understandably looks rusty, though I don’t think he’s close to Pope’s level his best. Wonder if the club will try to sign De Gea. Shite day at the races, that’s all. Seen plenty of them over the years. Need to get those injured players back ASAP - and the club needs to seriously look at why we have so many. I don’t buy ‘bad luck’.
  23. It’s a bit concerning, isn’t it? Is the transfer set to happen or can we still wriggle out?
