  1. Jumped for a second there - Terry Mac hasn’t been in great health. Corker of a goal Incredible figure in our history - the man is a Scouser, a childhood Liverpool fan who played more games for them than us and won pretty much everything it is possible to win there. Yet if you asked him which club he holds closest to his heart, it’s a dead heat - and possibly even us (he stayed in the NE after his second spell). Love the bloke.
  2. Don’t get me wrong, we can beat this lot, deffo. I’ve just got ‘big game’ nerves over the last few days in a way that - other than the LC Final - I’ve never felt all season. I always wish I was at SJP when the match is on, but I’m missing it like buggery today. It’ll be fucking electric - all nerves usually end at kick off for games like this one for me (just like derbies etc). At kick off I’ll be convinced we’re thrashing the fuckers.
  3. I'm the only one coming into this with not a great deal of confidence it seems - I've sort of convinced myself we'll get beat - and that'll do for me. I'm overthinking this and being a bit of a fanny by the looks of it - probably just the size of the match. Win this and I'll happily start thinking that top four and not just Europe is a possibility.
  4. I can't tell what I hate more - his running pointless pieces on Fraser's being dropped to the reserves in the week running up to the LC final which was of no interest to anyone but his 'exclusive' could have had a negative effect on our build-up, or arrogant shite like that. I think I'd prefer it if he didn't write either, tbh. Or anything at all for that matter.
  5. I haven’t seen the show so can’t be sure of any additional context, but Eubank was always a wanker. For a bloke who dressed like Little Lord Fauntleroy he always had a complete lack of self-awareness as well as a sense of humour bypass. Thirty years on I’m still annoyed that Nigel Benn (who I did like) didn’t beat him, though Steve Collins beating him after pretending to be hypnotised was fucking laugh-out-loud great.
  6. 8 mins added on - make that all three
  7. Was just going to write a goal before 90 is on the clock and I reckon they’ll spawn a point
  8. It is a nice kit mind. I love simple designs - always looks much better; classic football strips. Can’t stand over-designed kits.
  9. That’ll look delightful on the torso of the average football fan
  10. The 2023 form is that of a team finishing around 6/7th in terms of win %, PPG and GD. That’s pretty damn good, and I would view finishing 6/7th as a first class achievement considering that a cup run was also had. I realise we can finish higher, but 6/7th is European football.
  11. Millwall are dropping like a stone mind. I don’t think they’ll be in the playoffs at the end of the season. I fancy WBA to finish 5th - the Mackems have the same chance as Coventry, Blackburn etc
  12. Yep. Him and his thick pals wanted to fly a banner over the SOS when they were relegated - because being as small-time as the Mackems is important. So he would have been called out on that for starters - but it also happened to be what was likely to be young Bradley’s last game, so this also heightened the sense that it wasn’t just stupid but in seriously poor taste too. After asking anyone who questioned his doing this on social media with the usual Curry questions (what do you do for a living? Don’t I know your [name of family member]? Would you like to meet me for a ‘drink’?) or his usual statements of being a non-fan (haven’t seen you at an away game), he changed the banner from being stupid and in poor taste to a one which was stupid and in poor taste which mentioned cancer. The man is a fucking buffoon.
  13. Agreed. This was at its worst in the ‘90s. There is a completely incorrect notion that somehow the average football fans dislike for Chelsea etc somehow gets turned off because they’re playing some forrins.
  14. If you’re already a cunt, you never want to be one where an adjective can be added which describes the type of cunt that you are. Humphrey is a pretentious cunt, which on a graded scale of cuntitude is pretty much the worst you can be if you haven’t committed a serious criminal offence.
  15. It’s an interesting little spread (I think anyway) - if you take it from when the playoffs changed to second division only in 88-89, the winners finished as follows: 3rd: 12 times 4th: 7 times 5th: 8 times 6th: 7 times As expected, 3rd is the most common finish for the winners … but. It is skewed slightly by a period of sustained success by 3rd placed sides around 2010, when they won 5 out of 7. Before that run, 6th was the most common position for the winners(!) - but 6th placed teams haven’t won it since. Other than that short period, it’s a complete lottery. Here are the last 10 years: 5th; 4th; 3rd; 4th; 5th; 3rd; 5th; 4th; 3rd; 4th Never the same two years in a row.
  16. I wouldn’t expect them to last more than a season in the PL, but I think they’ve got a really good chance in the playoffs if they qualify. I don’t think the second division is any worse than most years tbf - a really good Burnley side is romping home, but Sheff Utd, Luton, the smoggies etc look decent enough. Plenty wrote off the Brentfords and Bournemouths in recent seasons. The playoffs are a crapshoot, and they are often won by a team hitting form late on and gate crashing the party late in the day.
  17. Yeah, I certainly have much more time for NUST than the other lot. There’s clearly good people involved with NUST - but the tf brigade have completely hijacked it. Shame, really.
  18. Some of it just looks like what the official NUFC travel club used to do (I never went with them after the late ‘90s - the ‘sarnie squad’ - not sure if it even still exists). Pay a few quid for a membership then join Curry and pals on a drinking boat for Brentford away. No issue there - you pays your money etc. Him and his pals are right to be critical of NUST and its incestuous relationship to tf - but they’re hardly a suitable replacement.
  19. I still think West Brom will do it - though that doesn’t mean that the Mackems won’t. I think Millwall could well drop out of it as well as Blackburn.
