  1. My heart is in my mouth every time that man goes down. Hope Trippier is ok
  2. Haha yep, he’s not the hairdryer type. 60 mins on the dot he’ll make changes
  3. It feels sickeningly inevitable atm - though hopefully we come out second half and start putting some of these chances away
  4. I really want to see Joelinton back in midfield. He’s great there and ineffective in a front three - and Bruno plays much better with him in there. Plus it would mean not watching Longstaff miss sitter after sitter
  5. I’m pretty sure that’s ‘home grown’ players only
  6. Used to sign him every time too. And Zlatan - who could play wing back then
  7. I still think happy thoughts whenever Andri Sigthorsson's name pops into my brain. Which isn't particularly frequent tbh
  8. It has to be the same guy. The game only came out twenty-odd years ago
  9. Won countless medals in my NUFC side back then. Always sign 18-year-old Moukokos is my mantra.
  10. I signed Moukoko for Newcastle on Champ Man 99/00 and he was fucking class. Get him signed up Eddie. Come to think of it, this may be a different Moukoko.
  11. The club's commercial revenues and last year's midtable finish will mean that our income to date will not have increased significantly over the income we brought in previously. We're still tied to the same shirt manufacturer and sponsor. If they gamble on making the European Cup via the top four and it doesn't happen then it will have a real impact on the summer budget, when players are available at more 'reasonable' prices. We're only a short bad run away from a significant drop down the table - which could happen; this side is playing above where anyone could ever expect them to be. An injury or two to the wrong players and it could seriously impact us - cf the Sheff Wed game. They're adamant they won't breach FFP, and there will be plans to increase revenue in the coming couple of seasons.
  12. I started wearing jumpers in Sydney in winter a few years in - so you might well be right
  13. Hate to break everyone’s image of picture postcard Australia, but Kuol didn’t grow up on the Central Coast but in Victoria. The lad will be used to cold, wet winters not much nicer than Edinburgh - trust me
  14. From memory, he preferred ‘Nol’
  15. I don’t think they’ll risk too much in this window - particularly with the premium that will be put on players. Our income levels won’t have increased enough yet to make the gamble worth it, particularly as they will no doubt have plans for the future mapped out. I can’t see us spending much - and to be fair, if we do go all the way in the LC it’s over at the end of Feb, so whatever happens the squad only has the PL to fix on until the end of the season. Diaby and Maddison this window? Seems very, very unlikely to me. And Tieleman’s likely salary expectations would probably rule him out - I can’t see Howe wanting to bring in a player who’s going to earn more than everyone else and potentially cause disruption. At a guess, I’m willing to bet they’re looking at cheaper options.
  16. Lad hasn’t played anything like enough minutes to make any sort of prediction - I very much liked what I did see in those first few games, and the Sheff Wed game was the rusty performance of a player who’d had a significant break from football due to injury.
  17. Yep, both comments are reflective of my experience I’m sure it doesn’t need clarifying, but I will anyway - even though I didn’t want Keegan to return, I was apoplectic at Ashley’s treatment of a man who to me saved and then rebuilt NUFC, giving me so many happy memories. I despise Ashley for the way KK was undermined and then constructively dismissed.
  18. Has to be a piss take. Has to be. Doesn’t it? …..
  19. I fucking didn’t, and neither did anyone I know. Chugging pints in the away end and bringing back a KK well past his sell-by date as a manager made most of us nervous, not excited. I can’t speak for anyone outside of me and my mates, but the day KK returned as manager coincided with a mate’s 30th. There was a big group of lads out with him - all NUFC supporters - and only one of them was genuinely excited. The rest of us were nervous as it suggested a thin-skinned man desperate to appease and a man with fuck all knowledge of football.
