  1. There’s no way we turn down £100m. There’s no way anyone is going to offer £100m.
  2. ‘If we could finish, we’d be higher’. Yeah, no shit. xG is an absolute waste of time.
  3. I’ve got eyes - there’s little memorable about this season. We haven’t done better in the CL - the format has changed; we had no easy games last time. If anyone seriously thinks that PSV and that Belgian rabble were better than Dortmund, Milan and PSG then I give up.
  4. I’m going off his own words at the press conference
  5. Current form keeps up and I dread to think what the reaction will be if we don’t beat the Mackems at home. It could be genuinely nasty at that point. He has to get the results in before then - and that’ll take a change of approach. My fear is that he doesn’t know what to do at this point - his press conference post-match suggests he’s out of ideas.
  6. Ginola barely had a good game after being kicked aal owa Highbury in the LC QF. There was one kick that Dixon gave him that we could hear in the away end (it was Highbury). He was never the same after that point. edit: apologies WM just realised you made this point the page before
  7. We couldn’t offer the money other clubs were offering strikers because we stupidly held onto Isak - for that, I blame the ownership, not Howe (I get the impression Howe would’ve fucked him off earlier). If we sold Isak early, as we should’ve the moment we knew he wanted out, then we have a stronger hand to offer bigger contracts.
  8. It’s not necessarily the best case scenario for Newcastle United, though - it might well be for Eddie Howe and his career. And if it happens (very unlikely of course), do the club charge ‘transitional’ prices for season tickets? I trust they will, if they’ve decided they’re having a fallow year. Most ‘elite’ managers and coaches do seem to move with the times without needing 12-24 month sabbaticals. I’m all for Howe taking an extended holiday in the summer for his mental health, but putting the club on pause for a year so he can watch other how other clubs work (NB I can’t imagine they’d be as welcoming as they were on his last break) is an absolute no-go. Tuchel’s trophy cabinet is something I’d be happy to see replicated on Tyneside btw - no idea where the complete lack of respect for the man’s achievements comes from.
  9. Rains too much for my liking
  10. It would have a chance of working if the infrastructure had been put in place - the problem is that it isn’t.
  11. I’ve been to Liverpool and Manchester - and I’d rather move to Middlesbrough given the choice. Money and success talks - pay the money and win the trophies and top players will rock up.
  12. Bruno is the only big player who did be surprised if he went
  13. I’m 43 and I could name ten better without pausing tbh, including all of Howe’s previous ones
  14. I was there too and there was zero calls for his head at the ground - but the crack on Keith Barrett’s coach going back was that most I heard thought he’d be sacked and there weren’t many voices I heard that day who would have pushed back on it. A bit different from foaming at the mouth calls for his head, mind.
  15. It’s the worst example possible. The lesson from history wasn’t in sacking Robson - it was sacking him too late out of a sense of sentiment. Our away form in 03/04 was simply dogshit (sound familiar?) and he’d clearly lost the dressing room. We waited too long and appointed the wrong man. I can’t believe that anyone who was around at that time would use that as an example of keeping Howe on - it makes a case for the opposite.
  16. Most likely not. Edwards seems to have forgotten his constant jibes at Benitez (probably because he didnt throw him a bone), while telling all of us we were stupid for wanting rid of Bruce.
  17. Local hacks need to stop being friends with the manager and get back to doing their fucking jobs.
  18. Baldwards is such a disingenuous cunt of a man. Can’t he just fuck off to a different patch? Using his position to spread lies about the support. Cunt.
  19. I am a patronising tosser is why - but wishful thinking isn’t proof. You’ll have to forgive my skepticism, I’ve just heard this too many times over the past few years and nothing has materialised. Hopefully you’re right - I’d be happy if you are!
  20. Yeah I won’t dispute it - but I also don’t think it’s open-and-shut, either.
  21. With the new PL SCR rules - and a likely failure to qualify for Europe - we’ll have to start doing that anyway
  22. Folks have been reading between the lines for quite some time. It’s flannel; wishful thinking. And if you have zero proof then it is plucked from thin air. Some of my ‘favourite’ nonsense has been in the excuses made for the non-materialisation of these super duper sponsorship deals which are always just around the corner. Bookmark away - every time anyone on this thread has made this claim it’s come up empty. The goalposts usually get moved - ‘they’re waiting on the Man City case’, ‘they’re being blocked by the PL’, etc. Bookmark this - by June there’ll be less than £10m p.a. worth of additional commercial deals.
  23. Thin air - the kit sponsor deal ends soon. Otherwise, a lot of folks think that all these massive sponsorship deals are always just around the corner. They have been for almost half a decade now.
