I’ve seen (and been to) much better performances than that at Anfield during that period. We were absolutely flaccid from the moment we conceded - our record there is utter shite, but after the first half an hour we were really flat and passive. Not sure what the HT team talks are like, but the norm this season is for the second half performance to be worse than the first.
-
Somehow we’ve managed to turn this into a thumping. Folded like a deck of cards after conceding as per - we really are as weak as piss on the road.

Wissa can’t be arsed to break into a sweat when he’s on for a quarter of a match
-
Not sure about that tbf - surely if you’re doing well enough you don’t have to be peddled after the four year maximum ?
-
I’ve been surprised by just how limited he is as a footballer.

I can’t argue with your lived experience tbf - it’s not been mine

We have as much of a chance of scoring that way

He’s getting on ye knaa

30 years - but I’m splitting hairs - I was there for Watson’s LC cracker in ‘95. I agree though - I think the past can have a bearing on the present. We never get anything there, irrespective of how good we are.
-
I’ve had plenty too - no issues on that front. I don’t like Liverpool FC, mind.

Are you talking about the club or the city of Liverpool? Nothing wrong with the city, and they have been shafted multiple times by successive govts. I can’t imagine any Geordie thinking otherwise. ‘Managed decline’ was the Thatcher govt line, the cunts. And I don’t think the media does have a love affair with them - how long did it take for the Hillsborough families to get any type of justice after the media, police and govt lied about them again and again and again?
-
Yep, it’s absolutely what should have seen it not given. If there wasn’t a first handball I’d have no problem with that being given as a penalty - but there was; so it should never have been given.
-
No, they were comfortably better than that. I’m still hoping it’s a load of bollocks.

There should be a statue of him at Wembley TBH

I’m not your buddy, guy

I think a more likely explanation is that they want a big payout and don’t want to resign …

He’s a married man with six kids is my understanding of the man

Yep, nowt wrong with the lad having a crack from where he did, but it was definitely an option

The greed of Europe’s big boys and UEFA’s oleaginous approach to those clubs have absolutely wrecked all three continental tournaments, but I’d still give my right nut to see us win a European trophy

In the space of two years? No, it’s obviously easier to qualify under the current format. It’s the reason the new format exists - the old one still had too many risks for the big clubs; it was possible to draw a ‘group of death’. Now, progress is effectively guaranteed.
-
We did play Barca earlier this season, and they didn’t look particularly rocked by our physicality to me
-
Yep - it was significantly harder to get through under the old format too, as we saw last time out. The current format makes it almost impossible for an English side not to qualify for the next round.

Sunderland’s cumulative coefficient tally over the last half a century: 0.00

It’s more that the laws are sometimes applied with more rigour - English football sometimes seems to be flummoxed by the handball law. PSG shouldn’t have had a pen, mind - their player accidentally handled the ball to create a goalscoring chance, so it should never have been given. Without the PSG handball, it is 100% a pen.
-
Miley does move his hand towards the ball; and intent doesn’t come into it. Which is why it wasn’t a pen - Miley’s handball follows a PSG handball.
