  1. I’m ok with vegans, but pescatarians are right cunts
  2. You’re right, Sheringham eventually became that - but he was a very capable goalscoring centre forward first. Completely agree re him being a panic buy. I’m really struggling to see why Howe signed him at the moment - I can see there’s a player there, but unless we completely overhaul our style of play (which would mean offloading all the wingers and most of the midfield) then I just don’t understand why we’ve paid what we’ve paid.
  3. Yep, our transfer target list didn’t seem to change much between 2022 and 2025. Same players linked / bid on again and again and again.
  4. Him being back to his best next season isn’t why we paid insane money for a (relatively) old footballer - and there is zero guarantee of that. The disjointed pre-season is 100% on his lack of professionalism.
  5. About 90% of them looked like bundled-in tap-ins from about two yards out. They all count, of course - but that wasn’t a reel which showed lots of composed, classy finishes.
  6. There’ll be a shirt sponsor next season, just a case of ‘who’ and ‘how much’. Will be interesting to see if we can attract a non-PIF sponsor for similar money to the current deal. If PIF remain serious, you’d anticipate a PIF-owned company stepping in and increasing the numbers.
  7. Mainly because MBS and PIF have more in common with Mickey Carroll than serious investors. It was always a ludicrous vanity project doomed from the off - if I was a Saudi citizen I’d be fucking livid with having the state’s natural resource wealth squandered on nonsense like this. Though I’d keep it quiet as a couple of decades in jail for vocalising those thoughts probably aren’t the best use of that time. NB the human rights abuses on the project were off the charts, including thousands of people being forcibly displaced.
  8. Almost as if the general standard in the CL is weaker than the PL *looks at CL table* Yep, I reckon that might have something to do with it.
  9. I’m not particularly sympathetic to the lack of training time defence that I see a lot at the moment tbh. Football isn’t that complicated - it doesn’t take a genius to work out what type of ball is suited to what type of player. This does seem to be a relatively recent thing in football - it’s not really complex to work out that Woltemade isn’t going to thrive from first time balls pinged across at pace, and Wissa isn’t going to score regularly if you’re whipping crosses in for headers. It’s hard to imagine Beardsley, Ginola or Robert needing three months in the close season to be told the type of pass their team mate will thrive on.
  10. Perhaps, and I’m still hopeful re Wolfemade.
  11. It’s hard to see Wissa scoring anything but tap-ins at the moment. Though in his favour he’d at least have a chance of being somewhere near the six yard box to score said tap-in
  12. Woltemade and Wirtz are like warnings re spending big money on Bundesliga players tbh. The standard of German football has been in significant decline for some time.
  13. Sheringham was a good centre forward with a centre forward’s instinct - he knew where the net was. He could play as a second striker but didn’t ever look as lacking in the desire to get into the box. Woltemade doesn’t remind me of Sheringham tbh. I was only half-joking with the Ameobi comparison. The lad really reminds me of Ameobi at present - a big lad who doesn’t seem to have any strength; technically capable yet lacking in hunger and desire. He came in and did a Cisse - everything he hit went in. The lad doesn’t appear to want to shoot, let alone score. I don’t think it is just the system at the moment. If I had to say ‘which PL striker is Woltemade most like’, I don’t know - Jan Age Fjortoft? A poor man’s Tore Andre Flo? I can’t imagine any top side queing for his signature at present. Hopefully the lad kicks on, but I’m not looking at £63m of striking talent at present.
  14. No issue with squad players - at squad player prices. We paid first team prices for squad players.
  15. You’re right - but Christ on a bike, it’s such a peculiar lie to live.
  16. From memory it was something like nine games without a goal when we sold him
  17. It’s a single line item on a risk register on a major project, the PM team will barely blink at it. It literally isn’t even worth the effort of a tweet. It’s these ITK sad cases on twitter that just irritate me - he’s offering a running commentary on things that aren’t happening. He’s delusional, and folks who follow him are playing into the delusion. The man needs help.
  18. I’m with you 100% on the booing - tbf I’ve never understood grown men booing under any context. It’s not a fucking pantomime.
  19. It’s a remarkable testament to Shearer’s ability and determination that he continued to score as many goals as he did post-‘97, but I doubt he’d have been at the club for ten years if he’d been the same player he was from ‘93-‘97. He was borderline unplayable during that period.
  20. Most other clubs don’t have a sloping pitch which creates a disadvantage to a team kicking towards the Leazes in the second half.
  21. I reckon Gordon calls other NUFC players ‘young grasshopper’
