  1. Just got my away jersey in large and had to return it. I have some old larges that are a bit tight, but i looked at the sizing chart and thought this would work; it did not. Too tight in the abdomen area. I have a 87 cm waste but this was difficult to take off. It is pretty nice except for the over large bright yellow Noon badge on the shoulder. Terrible.
  2. Agree. Falling in love with a player because of a good EURO and throwing ridiculous money after him was pathetic. That's what everyone thought we would do after the takeover. There was a time when Chelsea were offering Madueke up for sale and then they bought Neto and we could have had a deal. I understand the need for a long term Schar replacement, but we could have managed with him in the short term with maybe a young backup who could grow into the role. Don't think Guehi is clearly better than Schar and may not be better at all. The biggest problem last year on defense was probably losing Pope and we stacked mediocre backups behind him. I doubt we score as well as last year and we have scored one goal in each of the first three games. Big risk of missing European football and one of our purples pushing for a sale. 2/10.

Did we even call Sporting CP? Diomonde looks like a better prospect anyway. I think it would be bad for the clube and the player to get Guehi now. Expectations would be too high.

Chelsea previously said Madueke was available when they bought Neto. The player himself would have been about that purchase too.

I hope we don't get him. It will enforce the narrative we had right after the take over that we were a rich club that would spend like Chelsea. Paying £70M could force some sales of some great players too. We should have focused on RW and offered cash for Madueke weeks ago. He would make use better than Guehi for 24/25. After Madueke we would have looked into a younger replacement for Schar that could take a year to get comfortable. My guess is that we have made a final offer that is way over any reasonable value and Palace can take it or leave it. We are trying to build like Chelsea and Man U a couple of years ago. That didn't work out for them.
  6. For the short term. I still hope we get in a rw.
  7. I was hoping Madueke was going to be banished to the bomb squad. Probably was not because his wages are not high.

...and usually followed by Parish claiming he's worth £70M plus add-ons.
  9. I agree. Supposedly he is good at high pressing and Howe would want that.

Agree. Wonder why we don't take a look at Diomonde. I would even call Everton about Branthwaite if we are willing to make it a priority but that would give us two left footed cbs.

I agree. In fact, his value is inflated even now because of a fortunate (for him) injury at the EUROs. I hope we move on.
  12. That is an over simplification. The injuries were the biggest factor last year and losing both Joes, Botman, Lascelles, Pope gutted what was once a very good defense. We need a right center back first and then a rw and I hope we get both.
  13. He is on £325,000 a week. That would destroy our salary structure.

Agree. I am still mad we had to sell Minteh. Losing Minteh and paying way over market for Guehi is not how we become a top team. I think our business prior to this window was good, and I don't understand why we seem to be going away from that. We need the next Sven Botman not the next Harry Maguire.

I agree. We are negotiating against ourselves at this point. This show of weakness will be noted and used against us in future negotiations.

And he is younger, with a higher ceiling. At this point, this is just embarrassing for Newcastle. I left for the day assuming this would be done when i got back. Hilarious at this point. Hell, how much is Branthwaite?

We are paying too much for a 24 year old with two years left on his contract and no other suitors. Palace got us to bid against ourselves. I wonder if we ever inquired about Ousame Diomonde? I do like the fact this is not just a depth signing and someone who could immediately start lcb and then command a starting rcb spot in the new year. We can bolster rw w/ Gordon and lettig Barnes get some much deserved starts on the lw.

I'll take your word for it as i haven't seen him play much but £70M is a lot of money for a cb.

Why? Because he had a good EUROs when Harry Maguire got hurt? I don't see him as worth 2x de Ligt.

I'm sure he wants to move. I also think he is a target because Howe and the club see him as not only a backup cb but also an upgrade on Schar. That quote from EH was telling.
  21. Because there have been multiple articles about how the fans etc like him: GIVEMESPORT
  22. That is just us. Southampton seem to like him.
