The Europeometer™ (2024/25) - NUFC Qualify for Conference League (at least)
rebelrouser replied to Rich's topic in Football
I am a bit disappointed that we seem to be squarely within the PSR rules. We should be pushing the envelope and at least be getting warnings about overspending. Noon especially needs to increase, considering their hideous yellow badge that clashes with the jersey. Adidas should have to pay extra for coming up w/ an ugly home jersey (the away is 10; home is a 4). -

I didn't think it could get worse than the current version. It got worse. Really love my away jersey though; hope they keep that and make a different third. -
So a good starter for Palace, Wolves, Everton, West Ham, Brentford, etc. I think he is that. We just want more.
-
How sad that transfer rumors is all PSR. Funny to watch Palace move the ball on Spurs pursuit of Guehi:
-
Big Joe could play LW.
-
Agree. Too bad we don't have a thread specifically dedicated to this topic.
-
We paid £21 million for Almiron in the winter window of 2019.
-
I feel like we have two decent options for right footed RW cover in Gordon and Barnes already.
-
Another LW? And one who would be behind Gordon and Barnes? Left footed RW and if he can cover for Isak all the better. I am willing to gamble Osula makes big strides this spring and summer as so many young players do under Howe. Sounds like we will be lucky to get a RW and RCB so we should focus on players who fit those two positions.
-
We were making serious bids for Guehi with no PSR room, which would have caused us to sell a starter like Gordon, Bruno, or even Isak? Why would we have traded a starter for a RCB backup (albeit the future at the position)? Doesn't really make sense.
-
Confirmed by whom? I doubt we spent that on a 30 year old. There has to be more to it.
-
Arsenal with Isak would be very good.

We needed £35m more than we needed another midfielder and no one was going to pay that for Willock or Longstaff. I was more upset about Minteh but he has cooled off a bit it looks like. -
There is a lot of talk about Miggy going to Atlanta this window. I can't image we don't end up w/ a new rw and cb at the close of the summer window.
-
I would rather keep Miggy than DCL. I was hoping RW was going to be a major upgrade or at least a younger player with a high ceiling who could grow into the position like Dibling or McAtee. DCL is younger than Miggy but much more injury prone. Would still love Madueke and a young RCB who can learn under Schär for a year.

Lloyd Kelly - Juventus' €17.5m Obligation to Buy Activated (Romano)

Can he fill in at RCB for Schär? I feel like he is a lb/lcb sub so we would be better served with a young rcb to learn under and sub for Schär. -

All articles state the salary is above that and several state £150,000 per week. Given he was a free, i tend to believe it is at least >£100,000. He seems to have demonstrated his versatility in his brief minutes with us but not necessarily his ability. Would take £10M in a second. -
We bought two left wingers when we had a need on the right wing. That is not Barnes' fault and forcing him into a position that does not fit him is not a solution. It wasn't Joelinton's fault he wasn't a striker either. Our two deep lw is what we should aspire to at every position. Pretty good at lcb Botman/Burn and rb Livramento/Trippier too.
-
I think there is a chance a healthy Targett surpasses Lloyd Kelly but we are stuck with Kelly.
-
I agree that £50-60 million is too much for Madueke with our current financial difficulties and needs but remember we bought Lewis Hall from them £35 million because he was surplus to their current needs. If Madueke continues to fall out of favor and Chelsea need money, he might be good buy. He would start immediately for us and provide a nice bump.
-
Both of these have contracts through the summer of 2026 so a move would depend upon the player. They are 30 and 29 respectively so you would hope they want a final act to their career but who knows. Miggy's agent has made some discouraging statements.
-
That's the name thanks. I seem to recall liking him more but the injury news changes that a bit.
-
We were linked with him last summer. We should have quit Guehi and brought him in cheap to learn behind Schär. There was another young rcb that looked even better. Italian or playing in Serie A. Can't remember his name.
-
Right. I guess i am wondering whether a signing like Dibling would work considering Eddie might want to be slow about giving him starts. I think this kind of signing (like Tino and Hall) would normally be perfect for us but not if Murphy collapses or gets injured.
