Agreed but he essentially he turned the tap off as soon as we went down and pocketed all player sales, Giving Grayson absolutely zero money to work with which is why we plundered again. Conversation for another day about Short, his heart was in the right place he just didn't have a clue about building a foundation at the club. It turned sour when we dropped into the Championship purely because he just gave up and watched the club implode.
-
Forgot about him, He wasn't great mind. Just had a look at some of the players Moyes bought that season.. Anichebe, Pienaar, Lescott, Oviedo, Gibson - What was he expecting with that man
-
Excellent summary. He never seemed that he wanted to be in the job from the off to be honest, Even his first press conference seemed to be like he was doing us a favour, not that he was trying to get his managerial career back on track after failing at United then Sociedad. We actually played quite well in his first game, We had City away and nearly knicked a point but McNair scored a last minute own goal and we got beat. It was baffling that the very next game following defeat he basically admitted a difficult season and in a relegation battle (even if he thought it, don't mention it a week into the season) His signings were an absolute joke, We had Yann M'Vila begging for us to sign him after an immese season the year before on loan and he opted to ignore that and break our record transfer fee on Didier N'Dong - who this week, has now been relegated in 6 of his last 7 seasons. He signed his chums from Everton who were in it for one last pay day, the likes of Pienaar and Gibson could barely move. Gibson then decided to get pissed up and smash into a lampost which could have killed somebody not far from the city centre. Everything about his reign was horrific, He knew his heart wasn't in it but just bluffed his way from game to game and then finally jacked it in when relegation was confirmed about 6 games from the end of the season. His football was awful (to be fair I don't even think it's great at West Ham but he gets by because they have some decent players) and his attitude was stinking. 35-40M isn't a huge ammount in PL terms, but we've never really spent big so in contrast to others it was a fair whack. He managed to do what the likes of Ricky Sbragia, Steve Bruce, Paolo Di Canio, Martin O'Neill and co couldn't, and that was get us relegated despite being absolutely shite.

Suprised they are going for both him and Rice but I guess if they get them both there midfield and forward line is ridiculous. Jesus Martinelli Odegaard Saka Caciedo Rice

He would be a canny signing for Arsenal I think, He would improve their squad which is what they lack in depth.
-
He sure contributed towards it, not entirely his fault though, obviously.

Can't disagree, win win for Postecogolu though I think, Could finally be the one to bring some success (maybe a trophy) or he will just get a hefty payoff with reputation still decent as everyone seems to fail under Levy.
-
Odd one Spurs mind, Postecogolu is the type of manager they probably need but for him to be successful he will need time to get his methods across. It's the polar opposite of the appointments they've made in recent years where they have looked for immediate fixes (Mourinho, Conte) It shows the problem is Levy really, they lack a clear idea of what path they are working towards over the next 3-5 years. He's also going to need about 8 new players, He likes progressive, front foot football which again is the opposite style of the previous managers including Espirito Santo. The likes of Holjberg, Skipp, Winks, Bissouma etc are knackered in his system.

Ah don't get me wrong, every forum has them, It's Newcastle Onlines version of that daft twat Exile.

Over 300 posts in the Sunderland thread (with pretty much every post saying how shit they are) since the start of the season suggests otherwise, marra.

Your hatred of Sunderland is actually mental

Yeah, The Mowbray one is quite a good debate to be honest. He was brought in as a safe pair of hands after Neil walked to basically ensure we didn't go down, Nobody could have forecasted how well he ended up doing with the players he had at his disposal, He has certainly earned himself another crack at it next season. On the other hand it's been clear since his appointment that he was a short term measure due to unforeseen circumstances, Mowbray admitted this himself. The board would also be daft not to look into the possibility of getting a better manager if one was available but there is always a risk in making change, I much prefer them being proactive than the usual reactive shite we have been used to in previous years. You also have to consider that Mowbray only has one Championship promotion on his CV which was over 15 years ago, so there is no real evidence to suggest he would get us promoted if he's given next season to achieve it. I personally think he will go and they will go after someone they believe can kick us onto the next level. The owner is big on youth, taking calculated risk, technology and development and I think he will have his own man earmarked to follow that blueprint.
-
Disappointing end to a fantastic season, Simply bullied at Luton and we couldn't stand up to them with the players we had available. Onwards and upwards, Looks like Jobe Bellingham is signing for 3M according to Fabrizio Romano, Hopefully more quality through the door and we can target the top 6 again next year with a fit squad.

I take it you missed the post where I said "I doubt O'Nien could make it in the Premier League", then. Seems quite a few on here can't read.
-
How has he pulled him out the shit? He's diluted his shares drastically at every opportunity to the point now he only owns 9%, Donald is now on the verge of buying Eastleigh again so he will be gone imminently. Methven is already out the door.
-
Odd that, as every single manager that's had him here has had nothing but praise for him. One of, If not the first name on the team-sheet every single week. I guess you know better than them though.
-
O'Nien has been fantastic to be fair, I doubt he can make it in the Prem but it won't be for lack of effort.
-
Donald has basically nowt to do with the club now, He owns a mere 9% which is becoming diluted smaller and smaller after every transfer window. KLD has played him like a fiddle.
-
Why couldn't we do say, a Bournemouth? It's a complete myth that a club has to either accept going down and bank the cash or just bring in an entirely new squad. There is numerous teams that have gone up and stayed up by just making decent signings in-line with how the owners want to run the club.
-
There's a fair argument to say all of the 'league one clingers' have looked better in the Championship than they did in League One.
-
I have no idea, For as good a job as he has done, I wouldn't be completely against a new head coach coming in and I think ultimately that's what KLD wants. I think Mowbray was a stop-gap to give a little stability for 18 months and review where we are at.
-
Probably quite a lot, I'm amazed we are currently in a play off position to be honest considering we struggled to score goals as soon as Simms and Stewart were injured. Saying that, Stewart is twice the player of Simms so his injury has effected us more than any other.
-
We have three players on loan, Diallo, Michut and Gelhardt Michut is going to be signing permanently as it's a loan with obligation to buy and Gelhardt is only playing because every other striker has been crocked. If we went up (Which I don't think we will anyway) we would be in a good position to get Diallo again and / or get better loans. Why would we need to do a Forest? We don't have 20+ players out of contract. There is absolutely no chance the club would put themselves at a 'massive financial risk' as it's absolute polar opposite of what KLD has opted for since he took over as majority owner and ultimate decision maker.
-
I don't doubt that either, but it's a complete hypothetical situation as nobody knows how we would recruit over the summer if we somehow got promoted anyway.
