Dreadful defending but he took it awfully well.

Started on the weekend and played well by all accounts.

    Alexander Isak

Why on Earth are you guys even discussing selling Isak? He could challenge Haaland for the golden boot if he keeps getting decent service. Guy can certainly finish.
  4. Been impressed with Madders in preseason. I suspect Spurs might do OK this season but they need a CB and striker pronto.
  5. Surprised Klopp still has a job frankly...

From the Volendam site... Work permit Kuol's eligibility to play depends on the ongoing process for obtaining a work permit. I thought that had long been sorted. Is there a separate process now for Europe after Britain? Probably explains why he's not been sighted in preseason.

Yeah, most people want him to go to a technical league like Netherlands or Germany, but I'd rather he stayed in England to play in a tough league at pace. He's got pace and technique but needs to learn the fight if he's to make it in the EPL. Mid table Champo would be good, but it needs to be a club where he's likely to be trusted to play decent minutes. You'd think that would be easy for someone who's played at a World Cup but league football has a certain pragmatic reality.
  8. This drives me fucking mad. The number of people in Oz who won't go to AL games because it's not the EPL. The quality is good enough, and the salary cap means that all teams are even-ish (or should be) so nearly all games are competitive. Can't beat match day at Central Coast. Idiots don't know what they're missing. Anyway, rant over. Glad to see the Geordies are shaping well for the season.

Absolutely shone at A League level - as a 17 yo. Played well enough to get into the WC squad and got minutes there, including a chance to snatch a draw against Argentina in the dying seconds of the Rd of 16 (beautiful piece of skill to control the ball but fabulous save by Martinez). He has lightning pace and all the skill in the world but needs a lot of coaching and experience yet to make it at EPL level. Needs to go somewhere where he'll actually play. He's being paid a shitload of money (for an 18 yo) so NUFC must rate him.
  10. I'm very far from a LFC fan but didn't mind him as a player. What did he get up to in the bar (allegedly)? Don't think he's smart enough to be a manager.
  11. Needs to earn his stripes proper like...
  12. Probably already discussed on this thread (but couldn't be arsed looking). Ange Postecoglou will make Spurs a force again. It may take a couple of years to bed it down but he's a proper man manager, which is exactly what they need. Will be interesting to watch. He typically hits a few bumps before it starts to come good.

I hear he's gone to Verona for a pre-season boot camp.
  14. Haven't read the whole thread but Chris Donald of Viz is a huge fan. And all the Lindisfarne lads, unfortunately Alen Hull has died though.

Any whispers yet on where he's likely to go this season?

Got another assist today in a 2-0 win over Mexico U23s. Very good at getting to the line and then hitting it hard and low away from the keeper for a tap in.

Set up two goals today in a 3-2 win for Australia under 23s over a Mediterranean Selection... whoever the fuck they are.

He was, but not much of it was his fault. Our lads tore M City apart out wide and that's where the damage was done. Have a look at Sammy Silvera - only 22 and already had one Euro experience that didn't work out (I refer you to my earlier comments on Australians going too early). He came back and rediscovered his confidence - super quick and very creative. Good's well regarded here but there's no comparison between AL and EPL. The very best AL sides might survive in the Championship... might.

Yeah, he had some ability but probably went to the UK too early (as too many promising Australians do). Then he got injured and it never quite worked out for him. Has found his own level back in the A League - where he's a pretty good player. Hopefully Triantis hasn't gone too early. He's a beast of a player though so should survive in the Championship.

Yeah he's a ripper. Looked a potential world beater when he broke into the team last year but has grown immensely in the last season (CCM were crowned champions last week). Still only 20, but really strong in the air and a superb tackler. Very mature positional sense also. I'm sad to see him go but we have a great academy and will always be a selling club. Very likely to be a full international in the next 12 months.
  21. Anyone who thinks he's a Levy Yesman... forget it. Very much his own man and has rebuilt damaged clubs and made them successful everywhere he's gone. Really good at mobilising fans, uniting players and sidelining dysfunctional directors. Interesting times ahead for Spurs.

Probably what should've happened this season but I gather he was keen to play with some Aussie mates to help settle in to the UK. Delighted to see the Toon back in the Champions League by the way.

Not sure if serious... Two teams in the SPL (one and a half really) are superior to the A League average standard, the rest would get flogged by the best few AL teams. Kuol's former team just came second in the league to Melbourne City (CFG) who are by miles the best club. The Mariners play excellent football and it's a real shame GK didn't stay there for another year on loan under an outstanding young coach (ex Blades midfielder) who is 100% EPL bound.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I remain utterly hornswoggled by the way Hearts have misused Kuol. The guy's a full international in a team rated 27th in the world, who just came officially 11th at the World Cup. Xavi called him an exceptional talent after watching him run Barca ragged, and the whole of Argentina held its collective breath when he controlled that ball at the far post in the last minute of normal time. (I've spoken to a few Argentinians since - educated lot who knew all about him before the game.) How many other of Hearts' front third players could march in this company? Something went seriously wrong up there. I daresay Neilson was under so much pressure he simply didn't want to trust an 18 yo with saving his job. Big mistake, as GK has exactly the sort of pace and guile that might have pulled something out of the fire for him. I read on the Jambos forum that many of them think he needs bulking up to deal with the cloggers in the SPL. I think this would be a mistake as it's his body in its current shape that gives him his edge. He's as tough as fuck also so it's not as though he's scared off by challenges. You can never be too fit but, otherwise, let him develop naturally.

Just read that a decision has already been made about a full season loan for next year. Hope it's not back at Hearts. I'd prefer to see him in a technical league like Netherlands or Germany but if he's only there for a year the language would be an extra barrier. League 1 or Championship would be my choice.
